Advantages: Reliable, speedy. easy to use, uncomplicated.
Disadvantages: Some thick sliced bread won't fit in it.
This toaster has lasted me for years! I'm not sure exactly how long, maybe 8 years, and it is still going strong (I fully expect it to last 8 more).
The toaster has a white plastic exterior which is easy to wipe clean, with a slide out crumb tray in the base. The twist knob in the bottom right hand corner has settings 1 through to 9. Settings 2-3 are adequate for toasting fresh bread with 4-6 suitable for frozen; any higher than that and your bread is likely to be on fire, or at least charred! There is a cancel button so you can pop the bread/toast up at any point during toasting. The handle to drop the bread into the toaster will not 'latch down' if the power is disconnected. You can toast one slice but the other slot will heat at the same time, environmentally not so great. The instruction booklet is clear, easy to understand and only covers two pages for operation, care and maintenance. The other two pages cover the plug and electrical stuff.
The negative points - some thick sliced bread is too thick to fit in it; I'm a stickler for the bread being evenly toasted all over, (maybe it's the age of my toaster) I often find the uppermost edge of the bread is less toasted than the lowermost so I have to flip the bread to toast it a little longer to achieve even coverage!
This is not a modern, 'cool looking' toaster, but for reliability, ease of use, speed, and longevity - it's worth a million dollars. No, I'm exaggerating, I wouldn't pay that much for it.
This toaster has become like a friend to me, I've lived with it so long, I'm prepared to accept the minor flaws, and the fact it's not as beautiful as the newer models is of no consequence. When it stops toasting we'll have a funeral and it can rest in peace........
Summary: A very worthwhile toaster.

- 21/06/09 I had exactly the same kind of toaster and it just refused to die! Shame they don't make them like they used to though. I bought one for a friend who hardly uses it and it broke within 6 months. |
