I;ve had this Kenwood toaster for about 3 years now. I'm really pleased with it and am happy to give it a top review.
First of all this is only a two slice toaster, so if you love your toast or have a large family its probably not for you. But for the occasional toast eater like myself it is excellent. The toaster will toast bread to a reasonably width 1 ½ cm ish so it can easily cope with thick or thin bread. The brownness can be adjusted with a dial on the side of the toaster which lets you choose one of 6 settings or anywhere in between. I set this to the middle of the dial and it produces perfect toast, nicely golden but not blackened anywhere.
It also looks great. Finished in shiny stainless steel it looks great alongside other stainless steel appliances. It has a pretty solid build and the styling is modern yet classic with the rounded top. There are 3 buttons on the side of the toaster which light up blue when selected. These are a cancel button, re-heat and defrost. I haven't ever had the need to use the reheat or defrost buttons but its good to know they are there.
It costs about £30, whilst not the cheapest out there it is certainly made well and looks great too.
All in all I think this is a great toaster. It looks great in the kitchen and has lasted a pretty long time so far. It produces great toast!
This Kenwood toaster is perfect for me and my family. If you know you are going to need to cook several pieces of toast at a time though, it obviously isn't for you as it can only cook two!
One of the things I love about this toaster is the variable heat control, i'm very fussy about my toast ( I like it crispy on the outside but soft in the middle) and it cooks it perfectly but then it also cooks toast for my Mum perfectly and she likes it totally crunchy!
To be honest I haven't had the need to use any of the extra features that this toaster has - cancel, defrost and reheat which are the three buttons on the front which illuminate although it's always nice to have them there with the view that you might need them in the future!
The design of this toaster is very simple and classic, as with all stainless steel items as soon as you put your fingers on it (especially if you've been buttering toast) you get lots of greasy finger marks all over it which is a disadvantage. It does have a slide out crumb tray which makes cleaning this machine quite easy.
This toaster supposedly has wide slots although I don't find them that wide. I suppose they are adequate but they won't take anything thicker than the thick sliced bread.
We payed £25 for this toaster and it hasn't let us down yet!
