The best in a long line of toasters

I bought this model KitchenAid toaster about four years ago now and it is still going strong! At the time I thought I was mad spending all that money on a toaster, but it has and still is providing excellent service in fact it is the best I have had in nearly forty years of buying toasters, some of which have had a very short lifespan. Yes it is expensive, yes it is heavy but it gives super performance. This toaster has been used about 4-5 times a day in my house catering for 4 adults and 2 children, including my son making cheese toasties regularly. The model I have is the two slot one taking up to thick pre-sliced bread. At the time I bought it I was addicted to bread, the unsliced variety, but found I had to slice it rather thinly to prevent burnt offerings regardless of the heat setting, it seemed to cope better with the pre-sliced loaves. I tend to watch my bread intake now for the sake of my waistline, and my family are quite happy with pre sliced bread. This toaster has up to nine heat settings but we only use nos. 3-4. There is a crumb collector in the base which pulls out easily for emptying and washing. Mine came with an extra device for toasting breadbuns which you lay on the top, but we seldom if ever use it, but could be useful for those people who obviously enjoy toasted buns. On the whole this is an excellent toaster, very well made, and has been proved to give long service. Expensive but worth it for sturdy construction and very good performance. It is the first and so far only KitchenAid product I have bought, I only wish I could afford to buy other items in their range.
