We have made good use of this well constructed toaster since 2007. It remains in immaculate condition due to my Wife's obsessive demand for cleanliness and efficiency. However, this model is currently on sale at around £39.00 and, I presume, a manufacturers warranty.
But when I called Morphy Richards to try and obtain new elements for this unit ( elements are obviously the first thing to wear out on a toaster) I was informed that they no longer supply spare parts for this model.
One can only assume that in the event of an element failure during the warranty period, MR tell the customer to " throw that old one away and we will send you a similar but current production model".
What an appalling waste of fast depleting resources. No doubt, the replacement model is made in China.
With 2.5 million unemployed in the U.K. it should be possible to train many of them in the repair and refurbishment of all sorts of equipment thus showing more consideration for ecology, saving costs of imports and providing people with a worthwhile job. But no, that does not offer sufficient profit for companies such as Morphy Richards.
I have had this toaster for about 1 and a half years now and have never had any problems with this product.
It has two slots for toast which isnt i deal for a massive family but you can get this exact toaster but with four slots instead.
This toaster is a nice cream colour on the sides. If this colour does not take your fancy then other colours are also available. on the two larger sides it is silver and shiny. Fingerprints do make marks on these sides which i knew would happen when i got it but it really isnt a happy. You really dont need to get out your flash or anything. All you need is just a quick wipe with a cloth and then give it a quick one two with a tea towel to dry it. It really isnt a problem.
I know i have had toasters before which either burns the tost or doesnt do it well enough but this one does it perfectly. it obviously depends on how you exactly like your toast but it is perfect for me. You dont need to pop it yourself so you can go away and do something else and when your hear the toater popping then you can come and deal with it. You dont need to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt burn.
Of course there is also a stop button if you want the toast to pop up.
The price is around 35 pound now which is good money for a good product.
Five star for me.
