Advantages: Wide slots, two sets of settings, looks good, four slice
Disadvantages: Isn't any quicker at toasting bread
The Morphy Richards toaster is widely available to buy from places that sell kitchen appliances of this type, Argos, Tesco, Amazon, to name a few. They vary in price from anywhere between £30 to £60 so I recommend shopping around if you are on the lookout for purchasing one.
Looking at this toaster it looks a million times better than my previously value, bland, white toaster. The Morphy Richards toaster is a lot bigger as it has slots for four slices of bread instead of the standard two of my old one, this means it takes up a lot more room on my kitchen worktop but as it looks so pretty I don't really mind as much and don't have to hide it behind the kettle like I did with my old one! The toaster is mainly stainless steel with a panel of colour on the front. There are quite a few different colours available to buy but I personally have the plum coloured one. The toaster has a long plug cable, around 80cm, so if you can't place the toaster near to a power outlet then you don't have to worry. There is also cord storage on the back of the toaster, I use mine as the toaster is next to the plug and it keeps the cable nice and tidy.
As this is a four slice toaster it is pretty much just split into two toasters but stuck together. Both sides have their own settings and buttons and their own crumb trays, so although it's a four slice machine you can swap the settings on either side so if you are making toast for yourself and someone else you can cater to both peoples toast tastes without having to stop one lot when the other is ready. My daughter prefers her toast lightly toasted whereas I like mine almost burnt, we have it set so that either side are on our preferred settings and I don't have to worry about putting them on at the same time then both lots of toast popping up when my daughters is ready and then having to keep checking when mine is done again.
This toaster is a lot snazzier than my last value one, the settings dial actually works for a start. The dial has nine different browning settings so you can turn it to what you think might toast the toast how you like it and then it will simply pop up when it's ready. I like mine quite well done and have it on the fifth setting, my daughter prefers the second setting. It did take us a few attempts at different settings to get our preferred level of brownness but we got there in the end. There are also three different buttons above each dial, the bottom being the cancel button which when pressed, pops the toast up. The middle button is a reheat button, we've never had to use this but all it does is reheat your toast if it gets cold, I have no idea how it works but it doesn't cook your toast anymore it simply heats it up. The top button is a defrost button and again I haven't had to use this yet either. Another thing this toaster does that my previous one didn't is that the tray that the bread sits in can be lifted really high so if you are toasting something smaller than bread, such as crumpets for example, it can be lifted high enough for you to get it out without any problems.
I've recently began eating toasties a lot more often due to getting this toaster. I use them toaster bags where you make the sandwich and slot it into the toaster but my old toaster didn't fit the bags in very well and I'd have to squash the sandwich first. The slots on this Morphy Richards toaster are nice and wide and I don't find any problems in fitting a toaster bag inside.
I imagined this toaster to toast bread a lot quicker than my previous value toaster as that one used to take ages, this one isn't much quicker and you don't have to wait a while for your bread to toast which can be highly annoying when you are starving! Saying that, I would definitely recommend this toaster as it looks good, is available to purchase in many colours to compliment your kitchen whatever colour scheme you may have, lots of snazzy settings and more importantly toasts bread!
Summary: Lovely looking toaster from Morphy Richards
