Advantages: Looks good, does the job, decent price
Disadvantages: None for me
I have mentioned in a couple of previous reviews that we have recently had a new kitchen after 5 years of wanting one. I did get a little over excited with accessorising my kitchen and gave away perfectly good items so I could get new ones to match my sparkly new kitchen. As the kitchen is mainly creams and browns, I had really taken quite a shine to the retro looking cream microwaves and toasters you could get.
My partner wasn't convinced as we had already spent enough on the kitchen, but when we found the Morphy Richards Accents 44038 cream 4 slice toaster on offer in Homebase for £34.99 instead of its normal £45, he finally gave in and purchased it for me!
With a large family, a four slice toaster is almost a necessity for us but you can get these in a 2 slice if you wish. It is a decent size, but not too big that it takes up too much worktop space. The toaster has a real symmetrical look to it and is available in colours of red, black and cream.
Whichever colour you purchase (I had the cream one), you will find the front and back faces are coloured with the top and sides being a stainless steel material. The toaster has two of every function on the toaster so you can use as a two slice toaster if you wish. The main reason I wanted this toaster so much is because of the look of it. It is modern with a real retro look to it and looks just fabulous on my new work surfaces. However, it does have some pretty decent functions too. It has a variable breath width function, cancel button, frozen bread button and reheat button as well as the standard removable crumb tray.
The four toasting chambers are not only wide, but quite deep too so larger items won't get stuck or mis-shaped whilst toasting. Bigger chambers mean that because you don't have to cram items into the toster, items sit comfortably and therefore toast more evenly too.
The first time I used the toaster, I did use all four slices in one ago as I was doing a big breakfast for the family. All four slices toasted perfectly, crisply and evenly. Everyone has a personal preference over how well toasted they like their bread, but a standard toasting takes 2-3 minutes. There are two adjustable dials underneath the other function buttons to help monitor how toasted your bread becomes, which again is handy to me if some members of your family like their bread toasted more than others, you can put two in mildly and two in to toast crispier and they can all be cooked at the same time which is really convenient.
The toaster stands on four non slip feet which is a good safety feature and there is also cord storage too. The cord is a decent length, but not too long that you have loads of wire tucked away behind the toaster. You can get a kettle to match the toaster in the same range but we haven't purchased that as my partner didn't like it. Although they don't seem to do a microwave to completely match this one, they do other cream microwaves in ranges such as Swan which I am trying to convince my partner that we need at the moment!
Overall, there isn't one thing about this toaster that I don't like. I love the look of it and have found it really easy to keep clean and shiny. This toaster is both practical and stylish and not too badly priced either. Obviously you can get cheaper toasters, but they don't look as funky as this one and they will be more basic than this one too. The normal retail price for this toaster is around £45, but as said, we found it cheaper so it may be worth shopping around before purchasing at the normal price.
In summary, even if I couldn't have found this toaster cheaper, I would have ended up purchasing the toaster anyway at some point. The extra money off was just a bonus. I love it and provided it stays reliable, which thus far it has done, I will be keeping this one for a good while as I have no reason to want to change it. As you have probably guessed by now, this toaster comes with a high recommendation from me.
Summary: A great toaster from Morphy Richards
