I have this toaster in the 2 slice version and honestly I love it! It is a great toaster and very pretty- perfect for little children as it's easy to use and also perfect for adults as this is adorable and makes you want breakfast! There will never be an excuse to skip breakfast again!
The toaster also toasts bagels (but you wont get the face on it) and has a removable crumb tray so it is easy to clean, and the front can be wiped clean without taking the paint off. The only downside is you have to put it on a high setting in order to get the imprint- which isn't so good for me because I like my toast barely toasted. However this is also the only toaster I've found that toasts my bread PERFECTLY and just how I like it.
Anyone would love this toaster who is a fan of quite possibly the world's most famous cat. It encourages children and adults alike to have breakfast and will bring a smile to their face!
I bought this toaster from the argos shop on ebay, costing less than a tenner including postage. I saw it about 2 weeks before I was moving into my own place for the first time, and I HAD to have it.
I didn't know this when I bought it, but it toasts hello kitty's head onto the toast. Even thought I am 18, this cheers me up when I'm having a bad morning. My 7 year old neice (also a massive heelo kitty fan) loves staying over because of hello kitty's head being on the toast. She likes to colour in the head with chocolate spead, and then eat it; making breakfast even more fun.
Although the toaster looks brilliant, I find that you have to but it on the darkest toasting setting to get anythign that resembles toast. The first few times I used it, I had it on setting 3 (out of 7) because that is the setting I used on my old toaster. The toast was very pale, and the patch where hello kitty's head was supposed to be was soggy and you couldn't even see the outline of the head.
Apart from the lightness of the toast, I have nothing to complain about. It is a white toaster with a pink hello kitty on the front, as well as all of the buttons being the same shade of pink. The crumb tray is quite deep, so you don't get a burning smell after a few slices like you do with some toasters.
You can buy Hello Kitty in 1 and 2 slot versions, this one will only toast 1 slice of bread at a time so I've got it in my room because it takes up less room than a full sized toaster.
It's not the sort of toaster I would have picked for myself but my mum got it as a present, it's kind of useless for in the kitchen with 5 of us all loving toast but for me to keep in my bedroom it's wicked. The toaster looks exactly the same as the one in the photo Dooyoo have got up, it's mega cute looking and ANYONE who likes Hello Kitty will love this.
The slot is quite wide but when you push the toast down it closes in to fit whatever bread you're using. I've used Toastie bread, thin slices of teabread, bagels and all sorts of different thicknesses and they always toast fine. You can set how brown you want your toast to be and that's quite responsive, the darkest setting isn't TOO dark but if you set it to the lowest then your toast will come out still more or less white.
The clever thing about this toaster is that is toasts the shape of Hello Kittys head into the toast, that's cute but you know what???? After the first about 5 slices you'll stop noticing the head on the toast because you'll get so used to seeing it there!
It pops up good and has never got stuck. One thing I have to watch is that if I've put a bagel in it sometimes the pop isn't quite strong enough to get it all the way out, that doesn't bother me because you can only toast half a bagel at a time so I don't usually bother with that!
The plastic case of the toaster stays cool even after you've done a couple of rounds of toast in it, it's stayed surprisingly clean as well and hasn't got any brown marks on it like a lot of white toasters do. The crumb tray works good and is easy to pull out, it's quite a deep crumb tray as well so it's not very often I get a crumby mess under the toaster.
Recommended.... I love this toaster, not because of it toasting a Hello Kitty head but because it makes delish toast one slice at a time!
Growing up, we never had a toaster in our household. We had to make do with a grill. These days (and the days when I was growing up too!), everyone has a toaster and it's not really seen as anything special. It's almost 'the norm' to have a toaster sitting out on the kitchen worktops or tucked away in a kitchen cupboard, and seeing as the house I currently live in doesn't have a grill - I couldn't be without this toaster!
My Auntie purchased this toaster for me as a moving house present. She purchased it from Argos, where it is listed in the actual physical catalogue and also online. I haven't seen this toaster stocked anywhere else, but it may be available in other stores.
To purchase this toaster new from Argos, the price currently attached is £22.41. When my Auntie purchased this toaster for me (last August), it was new in the catalogue and cost a whopping £29.89, so if you want to grab a small bargain, then now is the time to do it!
The main reason behind purchasing this toaster is purely for how it looks. Come on, admit it, it's pretty darn cute right? Who could resist Hello Kitty's little sweet face? Not me, that's for sure! The outside of the toaster is made of a sturdy plastic which is white in colour all over. The front of the toaster has a hot pink decal of Hello Kitty's face, with her name underneath. The shade control knob and the settings buttons can also be found on the front of the toaster and are also the same shade of hot pink, making this one super cute and stylish toaster. The lever to lower the bread into the toaster for toasting can be found to the right hand side of the toaster. If you're a sucker for cute things like I am, this is the perfect product to decorate your kitchen with!
Using the Hello Kitty Toaster couldn't be easier really - much the same as a regular toaster. Simply slip your sliced of bread into the waiting slots and choose how toasted you would like your bread to be using the shade settings knob. Lower the bread into the toaster using the lowering lever. If you are toasting a bagel, defrosting bread or reheating them simply press the relevant button, if not - do nothing! After a short amount of time your newly toasted bread will pop up out of the innards of the toaster ready for you to remove and slather with butter/jam/chocolate spread/soft cheese..or whatever takes your fancy. Couldn't be simpler!
The toaster is set up like most common toasters with 2 slots to put your chosen bread into. I do find that these slots are of adequate size for regular size bread and easily accommodates all ranges of thickness, right through to thick toastie bread. The slots are also large enough to fit half a sliced bagel into each - which means you can toast your bagel without any worries of it getting jammed or causing havoc!
The greatest and most awesomely cute feature of this toaster is the fact that it can toast Hello Kitty's kawaii face onto your toast. The inside of the toaster has been made with a metal die-cut of Hello Kitty's face positioned on one side of each slice. As the toaster elements heat up inside, the metal die-cut blocks the heat and stops the area of bread toasting. When the toaster has finished working its magic and the bread pops up, you have a perfectly white Hello Kitty face positioned in the middle of your deliciously brown piece of toast. Magical!
The 'shade settings' on a toaster are what controls how light or dark your toast is, by setting the length of time that the bread is in the toaster. Usually, toasters have too few settings and it's difficult to get your toast just how you like it. With the Hello Kitty toaster, there are 7 shade settings which enables you to fine tune your toast to the colour of your choice! The shade settings are controlled by a pink knob on the toaster, which is surrounded by the numbers 1-7. Turning the knob to the number of your choice will then cook your toast to your own perfection. Setting 1 will give you warm, white, slightly crispy bread, and setting 7 will give you wonderfully black and cremated toast. I'm fussy when it comes to toast and only like mine to be lightly toasted, so I generally choose setting 2 - this keeps my toast soft and gives it a slight golden colour..but only just. Yummy!
The Hello Kitty toaster has more functions other than just plain old toasting of bread too! Above the shade setting knob, there are 4 pink buttons, each with a small red LED light beside them, which illuminates once the button has been pressed. Each button has a different, useful function that makes this toaster superb:
The bread slots in this toaster are large enough to fit bagel slices in either side. Pressing the 'Bagel' button puts the toaster into bagel mode - meaning that the toaster only toasts one side of your bagel, not both. Simply set the shade setting knob to your chosen number, push down the lowering lever to insert your bagel and press the bagel button to put the toaster into bagel mode. Simple! This gives you a deliciously toasted inner side to your bagel, and leaves the outside soft and chewy! Take care to place your 2 halves of bagel into the slots in the correct direction as shown on the top of the toaster, so that only the correct side is toasted.
This is a really handy button to have, as in our household we don't really use that much bread (there's only 2 of us..) so we tend to freeze our loaves. I dislike leaving bread out overnight to defrost, as it tends to go stale. Bleh! Simply pop your frozen slices of bread into the toaster, set your shade knob to the number of your choice, lower the slices into the toaster using the lever and press the 'Defrost' button. Doing this will both defrost your bread, and then toast it to the setting of your choice. If you simply want to defrost some bread without toasting it, set the shade setting knob to number 1 instead, as this will simply defrost your bread without toasting it. Brilliant for those being economic with their bread use!
The reheat button is something of a magic necessity in a morning. I'm forever putting my bread on to toast, then getting caught up in my morning routine and forgetting about it until my toast is stone cold. If you want to reheat your cold toast, or simply warm up slices of bread, simply insert your bread/cold toast as normal and press the 'Reheat' button. This function simply brings back your toast from the dead instead of you having to throw it away and start again, or heats up your bread for a lovely warm sandwich. Priceless if you're absent minded like me in the morning at times!
This is the sort of button we could all do with in our life! This button is a lifesaver at times, as I frequently forget to change the shade setting dial back to my pale and pasty setting from the cremated, dark colour my girlfriend uses. The 'Cancel' button comes to my rescue every time! If for whatever reason you choose the wrong setting, press the wrong button or need to end your toasting session early for whatever reason, just press the handy 'Cancel' button and this ends the toasting process and pops your slices up for you to retrieve.
Cleaning the Hello Kitty toaster is a doddle. The plastic outer casing simply needs a wipe down with a regular antibacterial kitchen spray cleaner or warm water and soap. Take care not to allow any liquid to enter the inside of the toaster, as electrics and liquid do not mix! I use antibacterial wipes to clean the outside of my toaster as this is the easiest method by far, and the least likely to get any part of the inside of the toaster wet by accident. Cleaning the inside of the toaster is simple too. Built into the bottom of a toaster is a 'crumb tray', which is a small piece of plastic that slides completely out of the base of the toaster to enable you to dispose of all the crumbs and bits of bread that have dropped off and down to the bottom of the toaster in the process of toasting.
In my opinion, this toaster is absolutely brilliant. Not only does it look fantastic, but it works like a dream! Okay, in generally it IS a novelty item for a complete and utter Kitty nut, but it's a fully functioning novelty item so it's worth every penny! I've had mine now for over 8 months and have had no problems with it breaking down or playing up (and fingers crossed I haven't jinxed myself by saying that now!). I only like my toast to be very lightly toasted, and because of this I only ever get a very faint imprint of Hello Kitty on my toast, which is a little upsetting - but that said my 'toast' can't really be classed as toast, it is really just slightly crispy pale bread haha! I love my Hello Kitty toaster and simply couldn't go back to having a boring, plain toaster now that I've owned this little beauty. Not only is this toaster a fantastic and fascinating product for a child - little girls love it! - but it's also a great product for a Hello Kitty fan of any age. Having that sweet little kitty face looking up at you every morning from your breakfast plate is simply charming! In a nutshell: It works a treat when used properly (ie. having REAL toasted bread), and has the function of looking pretty in my kitchen - YAY!
