Advantages: Smart and easy to use

Disadvantages: Explodes when the crumb tray is overfull

Very smart toaster with crisp design and modern lines. The controls on the front are easy-to-read and access. The black and stainless matches most new kitchens. No electronic gismos so little to go wrong, I thought. It toasts very well too and the intensity of browing control is very sensitive. The auto lift out is good although you can burn your fingers with half slices of toast.

However, after only 3 months of use it blew up with a bang and flash - very dramatic - and stopped working with the fuse still intact. It is irreparable as you cannot open the bottom with any screwdriver we have.

Since it cost about £30 and it has been used almost every day it has cost me about 15p per slice, excluding electricity which seems high.

They make toasters which bleep when the toast is cooked and countdown to completion - Why don't they make toasters that tell you when the crumb tray needs emptying?

Summary: Disappointing wolf in sheep's clothing
