There are independent browning controls for the two pairs of slots and a toast from frozen button which we also find extremely useful - especially when our youngest wants jam on toast and we ve only got bread in the freezer!! Tefal Toast n Egg TT550015 ... was a MUST for my kitchen when I first came across it, but, I have to admit, I havent used it for some weeks now. It does great poached eggs although I had to experiment with the timing of it for some while, and the same went for boiled. Its good though, in that I dont have to bother with saucepans in the mornings now. On a downside. I noticed that it just doesnt totally toast my preferred slice of bread. I have to toast it, then turn the bread upside down to get the top bit done. Obviously, depends on the size of the loaf you re using, its wide enough for extra thick crumpets, barmcakes etc, etc which many of my other toasters have let me down on in the past. ... Tefal Toast n Egg TT550015 ... is it and does the World really need one? The Tefal toast n egg machine is a funky new gadget, which does exactly what it says it does. The appliance itself is black and silver in colour, with two wide slots which take bread, muffins, bagels and croissants, according to the manufacturer. However I would take note of the potential safety aspect of putting any product into the toaster which contains any free oil although the Tefal website claims it is designed to toast croissants - thanks to Nar2 for raising this issue in his comment on the review. The toaster in itself is quite basic with only a simple slide lever to control the browning - remember those old stlye ... Tefal Avante 53278 ... got this toaster as a freebie in a rented flat and it s by far the best toaster I ve ever used! The slots are wide enought for a variety of breads, hot cross buns (sliced in half) and crumpets. The dial to control the length of cooking also has an excellent range rather than the usual undercooked or burnt options. It s the first toaster I ve had with the paddles in the middle to raise the bread further which is a very useful addition. Unfortunately these occasionally get stuck in the down position and need a play to free them. The bread crumb tray could also be better but then I ve never seen one that s 100% efficiant.
