INTRODUCTION

Contrary to most of my reviews to date, this is a review of a product which I am disappointed in, and will probably replace in the very near future. In my house, a toaster is one of those things used every day at the same time, 7:30 to make 4 rounds of bread nice and toasted - easy or so you'd think...

DESIGN

The toaster is a stainless steel but is surprisingly light weight and perhaps a bit flimsy. To be honest, it looks a bit industrial but it wasn't very expensive and aesthetics is not the most important for the toaster!
There are four slots on the toaster running towards you, as opposed to two long horizontal slots, each holding two slices. This is a neat feature, because there are two controlling dials, one in control of slots one and two, and the other, running slots three and four. This means you can alter the toasting without having to toast on separate occasions - very useful indeed! You also have the crumb tray underneath so that the bench is not covered after each toast.

THE ISSUES

I have encountered a number of problems. The first is that the control settings are, in my opinion very unreliable and inconsistent. Sometimes Setting 4 from 6 will absolutely burn the bread, and other times it barely warms it. This is a pain as you often waste either time or bread, you can decide which is worse.
The other problem is the baskets or slots for each slice are not perfectly perpendicular to the opening at the top where it pops. This might sound technical and pedantic, but it has caused a problem in my case. The bread sometimes cannot actually pop out, and gets stuck inside the toaster. I hope that complicated description made sense!

On a more practical note, the lead to the plug is very short and you need to make sure the socket is right beside the toaster. I also find the slider to lower the bread very fragile and am afraid of damaging it.

SUMMARY

I do not recommend this toaster because you waste time trying to get the bread toasted properly. It doesn't look great but it was the price that attracted me to it, at just £20. Perhaps other people have had better experiences, but I fear a replacement is imminent!
