I own a very stylish Krupps toaster that I really love! However one of my children has recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease. Coeliac disease is basically a total intolerance of wheat and gluten. It is important that anyone with Coeliac avoids eating even the smallest amount of wheat or gluten. . We were advised by the hospital specialist to purchase another toaster to ensure that cross contamination doesn't occur when toasting gluten free bread. I didn't want to buy another expensive toaster, so set out to look for a basic model. I was pleasantly surprised to find a two slice toaster for under £5 in my local Tesco and decided to buy it.

The Tesco 2T07 is part of the Tesco value range of products. It is very light and doesn't feel particularly substantial, but then with a price tag of just £4.99 I wasn't really expecting first class build quality! The toaster is only available in white and has a slightly curved shape. There is dial to allow you to select how dark you wish your toast to be. I like my toast fairly lightly toasted and level 3 suits this well. There is a cancel button and a crumb tray. The toaster is very easy to operate; simply push the level down and wait until the toast pops up! The level can be used to push the toast up if needed to allow you to take it bout without resulting to burning your fingers!

This is a decent basic toaster and is well worth the outlay. However it does have its faults! It toasts small slices of bread well and evenly on all settings, so no complaints here. However it is not so good when using thick or large slices of bread. The slots are just not deep enough to accommodate larger slices, meaning they will only ½ toast. The only way to get an evenly toasted, large slice of bread is to half toast and then flip the bread over and toast again. This takes twice as long and adds to the cost of toasting.

The toaster doesn't cope well with thickly sliced bread either. The slots are not large enough meaning the toaster sticks and fails to pop up. There is no defrost option and neither will you be able to toast bagels. The toaster comes with a 1 year warrenty, just remember to keep your till receipt. As a second toaster that is only used by one person, this model suits me well!
