Tesco Value 2T07
Disadvantages: top of toast does not grill.
Tesco Value Toaster Model 2T07, my toaster packed up a few months back and we have just been using the grill on the oven, but somehow toast never tastes quite a good grilled, strange as that may sound. However I kept putting off buying one because in my eyes it was not essential, but the other day my stepdad turned up at my door with this clutched under his arm. He had gone to Tesco's and purchased a toaster for me, bless him!
The box is white with the old style value logo in the top right of each side of the box excluding the bottom also included are pictures of the toaster with the front image covering 2/3 of the space. It is obviously made of cardboard, and inside the toaster was wrapped in a clear plastic bag and to hold it in place are two pieces of card which are shaped the match the toaster preventing it from moving around and getting damaged whilst inside the box. All of the packaging is recyclable.
The toaster itself is rather pleasant looking having an oval shape, it is a 2 slice toaster and it is made of white plastic with the control buttons being in a muted light grey. The controls include a slide down button which is what is used to insert the toast, a dial which is too control how dark you want your toast, I use 4.5. At the bottom is the cancel button, which can be used if you have mistakenly selected the wrong toast option or you simply wish to cease toasting. The inside where the toast is placed is the normal metal, but brushed metal not shiny. The toaster has a removable crumb tray which you simply need to pull out. The wire comes out of the base and is approximately a meter long and has a 13amp fused plug, as you would expect. It weighs 860g and its dimensions are 7.5cmx25.5cmx19cm.
It is cool wall which mean the sides do not get hot whilst being in use which makes it safer to use. Especially for my ten year old who enjoys making his own toast as a snack in the evening. The voltage rating is 220-240vac, 50Hz and the power consumption is 680w-760w.
It cost £4.97 and you can also receive clubcard points with that should you wish. My step dad purchased mine at Tesco direct and I'm sure most would stock these; they also have delivery options from £3.00, or click and collect for free, basically the click and collect service is a reserve service, you order online and collect the items from the store yourself, however I have never used this service.
Overall I think the quality of this product far out ways its price. The toaster works perfectly, It is even wide enough for toasting crumpets and teacakes, and toasts these very quickly and evenly and because the plate on which the crumpet sits on rises fairly high, retrieving them is not an issue, countless times I've had crumpet stuck in my toasters. Although the only problem I have is that about 1.5cm of top of the toast is not grilled, but I find many toasters have this issue and it's not a massive inconvenience.
Great price toaster and works really well.
Summary: Great little toaster.
