Finest Virginia Hand Rolling Tobacco
Having tried to give up this bad habit many times, I am yet again attempting what seems like the impossible sometimes! In my endeavour to at least cut down (as well as save some money!), I have switched to Amber Leaf hand rolling tobacco which I was informed to be much more of a mild and smooth roll to others of its kind. It is also one of the cheaper hand rolling tobacco's around.
Amber Leaf is available in 12.5g, (half an ounce), 25g and 50g with the prices being approximately £3, £7 and £13 respectively (rounded to the nearest pound).
The packs are bright yellow with the smallest amount being sold in a box. All have pouches which keep the tobacco fresh though are not re-sealable more than a small sticker to close them back up. The boxes now have a tiny pouch inside them also.
The first thing I noticed was the sweet, fresh smell of the tobacco. Whilst this is not something many people would be interested in when purchasing tobacco, I found this to be quite an appealing smell (which is not actually a good thing when trying to quit!). Of course, the smell prior to smoking the tobacco is one thing, when actually smoking it, it smells the same as other self roll cigarettes.
The tobacco is very moist and as long as it is in the packet, it seems to stay moist for a little longer time than many other self-roll tobaccos I have purchased. The moistness of the tobacco also helps roll the cigarette!
If you are looking for a strong tobacco then Amber Leaf is possibly not for you as it is very mild compared to other ones such as Golden Virginia. This is reflected in the price, I believe. The taste, as well as being mild, is also very smooth and enjoyable (I know many non-smokers will not understand the term 'enjoyable' when talking about a cigarette, though smokers out there will understand!).
I am not sure whether Amber Leaf was the way to go in the attempt to quit smoking, as although it is milder than others (and a lot cheaper than tailor mades), it has a lovely, smooth taste to it and therefore I find myself actually enjoying it and smoking more! Perhaps going cold turkey is my next step! I will let you know how I get on!
Summary: A smooth and reasonably price hand rolling tobacco
