What a Feeling





I took a deep pull on the Benson & Hedges and 28 years as a non-smoker were gone with the Tingling I felt down to my finger tips, the dizziness in my head and the bulge in my crotch. What a feeling. I couldn’t wait to light another. And another. And another. I Googled every form of Benson and Hedges I could think of. I fell in love again with the beautifully sleek gold colored package. I promised myself I would only continue smoking so long as these feelings continued. I hope they never stop again.
I was the typical ex-smoker, not understanding how anyone could use this terrible product. Now I am back in full force. Using every excuse to sneak out of the house and light another of these glorious white instruments of incredible effect. My light-headedness is so deep that walking is difficult and driving almost out of the question. Thirty minutes later the buzz continues. As soon as everybody else leaves the house I run to my stash to light another and breathe that transformative smoke as deep into my lungs as I can. I know rapidly repeating the drags will accelerate the buzz and am more than willing to tolerate the heat my lips feel as the price paid to achieve it.
I would admit that I am now a hopeless smoker again except that I see myself more as a hopeful dreamer that this ecstatic response will not stop. Ever. Right now I am willing to trade a shorter life for one filled with this feeling.
