Advantages: strong, nice packet

Disadvantages: unpleasant after-taste, headaches

B&H Gold as they are now called were definitely seen as the coolest fags around when I started smoking. Most of my mates smoked these - they were seen as quite masculine, and also a proper grown-up cigarette. They were also the first cigarette I smoked and I stuck with them for five years - I was very proud of the fact I smoked 10 B&H a day, but I switched to a cheaper brand when I was 16 and started smoking more heavily (yes, I did start smoking at age 11 - terrible I know, but not a decision I have ever regretted!). For a long time after that I couldn't smoke B&H - they have quite a distinctive taste and just lighting one up reminded me of being a kid again, hiding at the back of the field with the other hardcore addicts frantically chuffing our way through the lunch hour to try to make up for our school-enforced nicotine deficit before we saw a teacher coming. A few years ago they changed the brand slightly, I think to comply with EU regulations, and I gave them a try again and I feel I can now give an unbiased judgement - and it's not good. If you like strong cigarettes, B&H are an obvious choice (and they are better than any brand of lights), but for me they don't give you the same smooth nicotine hit you can get from other brands such as Marlboro Red, or even cheaper brands such as Lambert&Butler. I find you have to really drag hard on them to get the full effect, which is just hard work and irritating to be honest. I've also noticed that if I buy a whole packet of these by the time I've finished it (I'm a chain-smoker) I'm left with a headache and sometimes even feeling slightly nauseous, which isn't something which ever happens to me with other brands. The only real advantage to these cigarettes that I can see is that they are not as harsh on the throat as soma, along with the cool design of the packet, and the image of the brand. B&H seem to appeal mainly to younger smokers, and my advice if you smoke these is to see what else is out there - you may well find something better.

Summary: Generally unpleasant, all about image

I smoked starting at entrance into University. I smoked for 30 yrs on and off and I smoked every cig under the sun, I mean every brand ever, including, Russian, Turkish, the works. I have quite, thankfully, but I must mention that cigs only taste good after a meal or with drinks. I miss it like I miss sex-I got married 22 yrs ago-but I don't think about it as much!
