For Marlborough bright leaf I have to apply the catchline from the Laramie ad in the Simpsons-Don't know what they put in them but I can't stop smoking them. This new product from Marlboro provides a smooth, satisfying smoke at mid-price. I have never been a fan of Marlboro but these smokes are the best I have ever tasted. So go buy and enjoy. You will be back for more

A few cigarette brand reviews and opinions

I have only recently started smoking for personal reasons, i enjoy having a smoke every so often but since i have started smoking i have been trying all sorts of different brands to find myself a favorite. Below are a list of cigarette types i have tried and a brief review of each one (the list is in order of my personal favorites): Sterling Red (King size and Superking) Sterling was one of the first i tried and the most enjoyable cigarette iv had. They are not too strong & not to week on effect. The filter has holes which takes away the harshness most cigarettes can give however many people tend not to like this, personally i dont like this sterling seem to still give off good smoke despite that. The cigarette does burn quite quick so i would recommend new purchasers to buy superkings (100mm). Marlboro Brightleaf Marlboro brightleaf is a new type of cigarette from the marlboro brand, a nice good strong cigarette with a slow burn. These cigarettes have more nicotine than most others (1mg compared to average cigarettes which are usually around 0.8/0.9) and less carbon monoxide at 9mg (instead of the average 10mg in most others). Marlboro brightleaf is full of flavor and i would recommend this to people who are willing to pay a bit more for that extra quality. Because the product is new, Marlboro have pricemarked the pack to around £5.35 for 20 and £2.75 for 10. Not all shops sell this but from launch they have become widely available so chances are your local will stock up on these sooner or later Richmond (Superkings and Kingsize) Richmond are very like sterling, the difference being richmond are slightly stronger on flavor and effect than sterling. I have noticed that the new packaging of Richmond contains different looking/tasting cigarettes to the previous pack and i do prefer the new style ones rather than the previous ones which have a slightly more bitter taste. Richmond are good quality and good value and do burn quite slow. Marlboro Reds & Gold (lights) Personally i dont like american cigarettes as i find their cigarettes to be quite harsh, the reds have a strong flavour and give strong effect, they burn fairly slow too. If you like strong cigarettes then i would recommend reds, if you like american cigarettes but dont want the extreme harshness then i would go for the gold. Golds are lighter but still have a similar taste and harshness of a standard cigarette so dont be put off if your not a lights fan. Park Road Park road are a value brand of cigarettes specially produced and packed for Bestway cash and carry so if your shop is a premier/happy shopper store (not a part of the bestway store franchise) then they are not likely to be available from there. Park roads have quite a bland taste and are not harsh at all, you have to really take a big drag if you are to get the same effects from an average priced cigarette however i can understand many people like a lighter smoke and these are pretty good if you want more nicotine than any other lights brand

The electronic fag with no ill-effects

After 10 years of smoking dirty, disgusting roll-ups, I gave it one last attempt to give up...and guess what, it worked. It took a bout of the flu to aid my progress and one, tiny, tiny little device...the electronic cigarette - an invention making a huge splash in Japan; and something which will doubtless catch on massively in the next few years here in the UK. The electronic cigarette is a simple device which looks like a cigarette but contains no tar or carbon monxoxide or several hundred other chemicals that normal fags contain. You charge it up, smoke it and voila. What it does contain is nicotine, the addictive substance in fags - but on its own, it isnt that as bad for you (it does still increase you heart rate). There is a trail of "smoke" that you blow from the electronic fag - but this is harmless water vapour. You might expect to pay through the roof for this potentitally life-saving device...but you don't. Its available for £20 from miniciggy.com, plus various nicotine cartridges and chargers etc. I gave up smoking using the electronic cigarette after several years of trying using other NRT (inhalers, patches etc). It worked for me, so can work fo you.

Don't Waste Your Money On Inferior Cigarettes!

My review here is simply to say that if a person wants to have a good cigarette I recommend trying a Lucky Strike. I don't know how readily available the original, non-filter Lucky Strikes are in various countries these days (where I live they're a pain the neck to find so I have to go online and get them), but they're worth finding! I figure it this way >>> If you want to have a cigarette or two then you're likely willing to spend money to buy a pack. And since that's the case why waste your money on sub-standard or inferior-tasting cigarettes? I don't like filtered cigarettes -- I just can't taste the darn things. Ugh! I say people should buy cigarettes they can taste and not waste. I've seen people "smoking" something like Marlboro 100 Super Ultra Lights and other such nonsense. I use term "smoking" lightly in the case of these "Light" cigarettes because how the hell can you smoke air? And people actually pay for this garbage! How many folks have tossed out good money on cigarettes you can't even taste? I've tried many different kinds of cigarettes -- some mentholated, some not (Newport, KOOL, non-filtered Camel's, Bel-Air, Alpine [which I don't think are made anymore], Chesterfield Non-Filter, Marlboro Reds and one time I remember trying one of those Marlboro Ultra Super Lights or whatever they're called) -- and it's HIGHLY unlikely I'd ever have another filtered cigarette again. I outgrew them a long time ago. As far the Non-Filtered Cigarettes go I used to smoke Camels for a few years but one day they started making me nauseous so I gave those up for NON-FILTER KOOL's and I'll tell you those things were so vicious if you put one down in an ashtray it would get up and walk away. Those were STRONG. Smoke enough NON-FILTER KOOL's and you can kiss your taste buds ~goodbye~. You won't be tastin' nothin' after having 25 of those a day. They were good, too, but KOOL took the chicken-plucker way out and stopped making them in 2002 so I decided no way was I going to buy another pack of those bad-tasting Chesterfields and I should give Lucky Strikes a go. I'd tried a few packs of Luckies here and there during my un-filtered Camel days but this was it: If I tried the Luckies and had lost my taste for them that was it and I'd quit and just be mean all the time. But they were still enjoyable -- especially because I was determined to not smoke myself silly but to have them in moderation so I could really enjoy them. In the final analysis something else is bound to kill me before a few Luckies a day will. And besides that I've known too many people who didn't smoke or drink or do anything "bad" that died young anyway of cancer or un-natural causes like car accidents. >>> So remember -- the next person who gives you static about having a few cigarettes a day is probably cheating on his wife, beating his kids, popping pills, embezzling from his boss and ripping off little old ladies by conning them into investing in real estate that's located in an area full of swamp gas. <<< AMEN.

        Try something different

I've smoked now for almost 40years, and in that time I can honestly say that I have tried to stop twice, with regrettable failure. It doesn't take Einstein to figure out that inhaling smoke into your body is not what it was designed to do, therefore there is a significant chance that it is most certainly doing you harm. Without the help of expert medical advice you could say the same for a great deal of items we consume on a regular basis especially medicine sold over the counter since there is no control over the quantity you take. I have often taken more the recommended dosage of a medicine when the initial dosage hasn't done the trick, I know it's wrong but all I want is the headache or whatever to go away. I'm not defending smoking in any way if I can do anything to stop someone starting what is a dirty and filthy habit then I will, but unfortunately with this product causing such a serious addiction me stopping will probably not be part of his or her solution. I do feel however that over the years there has been a campaign to blame cigarettes for a lot of medical problems that they really have nothing to do with. Can't prove it was caused by anything in particular then blame the good old scapegoat, the cigarette. I read an article years ago, which stated briefly that everyone is born with the possibility of getting cancer and that everyone has a different trigger, which may start of the cancerous process. In some it is obviously cigarettes, but being a smoker doesn't mean that it was the smoking that caused the cancer although in all probability it will get the blame. If the article does in fact have some basis of truth then the main problem is that when we are born we are unaware of what it is that triggers the cancer therefore we can do very little to stop it. We could obviously not start smoking since this is a major factor, and probably a major cause. Addictions are easy things to discuss but a bit more complicated to actually defeat. Having as I said smoked for 40 years it is almost part of me now, I do wish I had never started and hope that one day I will stop before it perhaps stops me. It is all the crap that comes with the nicotine through the cigarette that causes most of the damage especially the tar on the lungs. I recently, whilst searching Amazon to spend my wonderful wad of dooyoo vouchers, discovered a product, which eliminates all this crap. So why am I reviewing this under this category...................... Well quite simply because the product is called an E Cigarette and the category is cigarette products in general, but some may still deem this off topic. £16.99 worth of vouchers purchased me an E Cigarette, which consists of three major parts excluding the charger.............YES charger. The first part is similar to the normal white part of a cigarette, but is in fact a battery. It takes up perhaps 90% of the white area. The second part is the atomiser, which takes up the remaining 10%. The battery and atomiser simply screw together once the battery has been charged on the provided charger. The remaining portion of the E Cigarette is the tip part of a normal cigarette and is very similar in shape size and look. This tube is filled with a pure nicotine solution packed in a small cartridge. This part of the product simply pushes onto the atomiser end of the E Cigarette. This means that the moist nicotine cartridge is now in contact with the atomiser. A small hole I the end of the tip portion allows the user to suck and inhale. In doing so the atomiser is activated through a sensitive switch causing the moist nicotine substance to form a vapour, which can be safely inhaled as normal. This vapour contains the nicotine, which in passed into the body, as is the nicotine in a normal cigarette. No crap just the nicotine. The battery portion has an added benefit it has a small light on the end, which glows red upon sucking. So simply smoke as normal get the pretend smoke, the glow at the end, and the nicotine you crave. The product has no side effects and works brilliantly. There is no risk to others of passive smoking since the exhaled vapour is just water vapour. NO REAL SMOKE. Having used this for about 2 weeks now I have dramatically reduced my intake of the normal foreign substances in a cigarette of which there are apparently 4000. The product has a flavouring, which imitates that of tobacco, and I have found that it does feel and taste very similar to a cigarette. I have NOT as yet stopped smoking but am now smoking about 60 - 70 less cigarettes a week which although isn't ideal is still of great benefit. Perseverance in the new product, which can incidentally be smoked legally in PUBS, may win in the end, we shall see. The E Cigarette as I said can be purchased on Amazon.co.uk there are other versions but this one is the one advertised as a starter kit. This means your get the cigarette, the charger and 10 cartridges, 3 high strength, 4 medium strength, and 3 low strength. The basic idea is to start with the high and work down to the low; each cartridge is equivalent to 15 normal cigarettes, that's 150 in old money. I'm winning the battle, but it is a long war.

          I picked my poison

People who do not smoke tend to view those who do as subhuman. Give us a break. The reward must be worth something to us. The costs are high, both money and risk. We are not stupid. We have concluded the analysis in favor of the smoke. If you have never felt the rush that comes from a deep inhale, don't try a cigarette. You may find yourself on our side of the choice. Unless you don't like a tingling, dizzy feeling that leaves you craving more. All addictions come with a cost. You choose yours, it's ok. I'll choose mine, that's ok too.

Ciggies are dear but I am addicted to them. I have tried your patches and tablets to no avail, I enjoy them (ciggies), if you don?t like being in the same room as me then move. I am usually on the look out for the cheapest so Dorchester is my main brand100 Pack costs £16.95 Last week though, I had to take a trip to the Channel Isles and a box of 200 cigs?.Embassy no1 cost £18.99?.What a saving. The packet was white with red and burgundy stripes at an angle, on the front was a warning (NEW TO ME) in black writing?.saying Smoking kills and on the back, it said in black writing Smoking is highly addictive don?t start. There was a small black framed square on the side of the packet saying:- Tar???????10mg Nicotine ????.1.0mg Carbon monoxide?.10mg Alright we all know about the evils of smoking, but those of us who do it?Do it. Did I enjoy Embassy no 1 ????.yes for sure, but I cannot normally afford them. They were a little bit smoother than Dorchester?and didn?t have them woody bits in them, that wastes half of a cigarette. Would I buy them again ? At that price I certainly would?A very enjoyable smoke. Sorry to upset those none smokers but Hell, it?s my life. And you are not paying for me when I get lung cancer?whatever. Because of my bad habits I have taken out private medical help.

The second(*)most evil thing ever brought back to these shores by an intrepid explorer has to be tobacco! The "olde dude" is inadvertently responsible for my nicotine habit of upwards of twenty ciggies a day, more than that on a bad day, a coffin nail for every half hour of the day sometimes. Smoking is bad for you, it causes disease and death with monotonous regularity, it also has the most calming effect and compliments a mug of coffee at any time of the day. I went through the usual pressures as a growing lad, peer pressure to smoke was just as great then as it is now, add to that the fact that cigarettes were advertised all over the place like television, cinemas, bill boards, sports events and that cigarette companies spent huge amounts of money convincing us that smoking was a harmless habit with more benefits than drawbacks (It calmed you, only the best looking and glamorous people did it etc) my father smoked, all my uncles smoked, even my teachers smoked. When I started smoking it was a cheap way to clog up your lungs, the duty on smokes was very small compared with today’s prices, you could also still buy packets of five woodbines if pocket money was tight, and when you were really skint, the ice-cream van would sell you "singles",but only if you said you were over thirteen! So what’s the best smoke? well obviously if they could invent a smoke without chemicals, tar, nicotine etc then that would be best, but until they do I will stick to my Richmond Lights. "Lights" or "Mild" as they used to be called, is probably the biggest con in the tobacco world *all* cigarettes are harmful and I have heard that lights are just as, or more harmful, than ordinary strength ones. I tried the menthol ones for a while, convincing myself that no possible harm could come to me if I smoked these. Well, apart from getting a hernia that is! Trying to suck a bit of s atisfying flavour from a menthol cigarette is impossible, it's like smoking a polo mint! For years, my old dad smoked "plain" cigarettes, that’s cigarettes without a filter tip, real lung busters. His favourite ones were "Players Plain" and as a standby he would smoke Capstan. I know from experience (well from nicking a few from his packet when I was a young fledgling smoker) just how strong these were, they literally burned the back of your throat off and are probably responsible for making "Old Blue eyes" the singer he was. After a rather spectacular heart attack, my dad took to smoking a variety of tipped cigarettes (in the vain belief that they would do less harm) before settling on Berkley Superkings, which he now gets through at the alarming rate of at least 40 a day! to the despair of me old "ma" As the old saying goes, you cant teach (some) old dogs new tricks. In recent times, some people have taken out law suits on the tobacco firms and won!, their lawyers have built up seemingly air tight cases and finally got the tobacco barons admitting that tobacco is harmful and carcinogenic, they are now faced with paying huge damages and that will mean either more huge price hikes on our individual death wishes or some tobacco firms cutting their losses altogether and going belly up (poetic justice some might say for all their customers who have done the same thing as a direct result of smoking their products) I personally, would never dream of taking out a law suit against a tobacco company, I knew when I started that it was a less than healthy habit, but I can see why some widows/widowers of smokers may feel the need to, smoking was, for a long time, advertised relentlessly as "the" cool thing to do. In the meantime, I think that better filters would be a good thing for the tobacco companies to invest in, you can buy little ones that help extract a lot of t he harmful chemicals as you inhale but they are expensive in themselves and a bit fiddly, if the companies could build them into a pack of twenty then that would be all the better for us poor, dedicated, smokers. (*)The most evil thing ever brought to these shores by an intrepid explorers has to be semolina pudding! I will end with a poem written by my good mate helmet, just cos I like it a lot and it mentions smoking. Crouching over the writing apparatus attempting creation of lyrical odes, Dark, empty mind thinking nothing but nonsense Fingertips idle. Typewriter rusts. Seconds and minutes are endlessly passing; continually tracing the lapsing of time. Marking the moments with total efficiency. Creating a better, pray fruitier wine? Time passes. Electric locomotive passes the window. Passenger carrier keeping to rails. Patrons sit blankly staring at nothing. Well, they don't wave back, anyhow. Another train passes. Flame touches paper, smoke starts to rise, freed from tobacco in tempting disguise. Lungs' inhalation drawing in deeply; Nauseous state for no good reason. Heart by-passes. Thanks for reading :)

A couple of weeks ago I received my package from the Nat Sherman company of New York - a carton of five packs of Nat Sherman Classic cigarettes. Opening them I discovered the awesome packaging, Each box flips open to reveal tissue paper rather like a box of fine begian chocolates. Each ten was separated by a layer of card with the monogram of the Nat Sherman comapny. Each cigarette had a cork filter with gold and red bands on it giving the impression that they were someting special. Lighting one I discovered the rich smoke was like the difference between fine belgian chocolates and say Milk Tray. There are no cigarettes sold in England that come close to these. They are hand made from all natural tobacco, so there are no additives. However they light and burn easily though not too fast. Like anything luxurious they are expensive, at $39.50 a carton of five pack plus air mail, makes them roughly six quid a pack. For a picture goto http://www.natsherman.com/images/browse/L_63.jpg

If you had a choice between life and death what would you choose? Unless your a self hater or part of a cult religion then the answer is Life. If not, why are you here? You should be at the bottom of the river mersey filled with parcetemol. The reason I ask the above question is because YOU have tht very same choice. YOU have the chance to choose between Living Longer or dying young every day when you walk into the papershop and buy your daily things. The thing I am of course talking about is SMOKING (you should know that already because of the section this is under. By buying cigarettes you are basically paying £4 for twenty sticks that basically guarantee a shorter life. But why would you do this. Say you buy a £4 packet every 2 days (most people smoke a lot more but I am just genralising). Thats £52 a month. Thats £2704 pound a year. Most people I know though smoke 20 a day so that is £8 a day, £104 a month and £5408 a year. Then again though there is the illegal imports that cost a 1/4 less. This may give people more money to spend on there families but also they are more likely to spend it on more cigareetes. In my opinion Cigarettes should be outlawed. Look at the facts. 1 in 2 smokers die of a smoking related disease. It's like playing russian roulette were you lose whatever you do. I for years have tried to stop my mother from spending money on these vile things. I have even given them nick-names such as 'the silent shotguns' Matthew's guide to Smoking... 1: You are born 2: You go through childhood 3: go through puberty 4: :fiss kiss etc. 5: start smoking 6:Smoking Takes a hold 8: Smoking starts to kill you 9: Death

There is a new brand of cigarettes in America that I have fallen in love with, they are half again as expensive as any other fags but they are well worth it. Their name is simply "Honey Toasted" and they come in a package that has black and yellow stripes and a bee on the front. They are made by one of the largest tobacco companies so top quality is assured. The taste is just different and delightful, it is enough to say that they taste like honey, the lights have a better flavor than the full flavor though. So if you want a cool conversation piece with you at the pub pick up a few packs and share them while you meet people.

I know smoking is a very bad habit and being a smoker myself I am still trying to stop. A long time ago whilst in transit at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam I visited the Duty Free shop and naturally went to the cigarette section to buy a carton of my favourite brand. I came across a brand called "Sobraine". They had one which was totally black in colour with a Gold painted filter tip and named "Black Russian". They also had another one which had a total of five different colours each with Gold painted tips and the colours being pink, purple, yellow, light green and turquoise blue. These were named "Cocktail". I just could resist buying a carton of each and did manage to get through customs at Heathrow without being stopped otherwise I would have had to pay a bomb in duties. I used to take these with me whenever I went to a party or out on Saturday night and none of my friends could resist having one (those who smoke). They cost double of what you would normally pay for a pack of Rothmans or B&H. So if your a smoker and want to have a bit of a laugh when your out at parties etc when try and get your hands on some of these. PS. I ticked the box "Would you recommend this to a friend" as "Yes" but that is provided he was a smoker.

Why do people buy cigarettes in the UK. When the high street price of cigarettes in the UK is over £4.00 and the price in Belgium and France is around £2.00, it is common sense to go abroad to buy them, rather than pay the UK price (see P&O North Sea Ferries op, for people in the North) I suppose that there are two main reasons. Firstly, it depends where you live in the country and whether you have transport, to make this a viable option. Although if you smoke a packet of cigarettes a day the economics make it viable wherever you live. A saving of £2.00 per day = £182 per three months, which more than pays for the journey. This brings me to my second point, it is only people that have a level of income that allows them to pay out a lump sum that can afford this option. If you are on benefits or a low income then it is unlikely that you will be able to save the money to allow you to do this. In effect this is a tax on the poor. Of the people that l know, the vast majority of them go to the continent for tobacco goods and wine, some don’t smoke and some cant be bothered. A couple that l know who smoke about 30 cigarettes a day, go to France twice a year simply to 'stock up' for the next six months. They have the option, unlike those on a lower income. Which of course is why the black market in tobacco exists.
