People who do not smoke tend to view those who do as subhuman. Give us a break. The reward must be worth something to us. The costs are high, both money and risk. We are not stupid. We have concluded the analysis in favor of the smoke. If you have never felt the rush that comes from a deep inhale, don't try a cigarette. You may find yourself on our side of the choice. Unless you don't like a tingling, dizzy feeling that leaves you craving more.
All addictions come with a cost. You choose yours, it's ok. I'll choose mine, that's ok too.
