Advantages: Convenient, Good Price, Mild Taste and Scent
Disadvantages: Not For Die-Hard Smokers
This tobacco is actually called Drum Gold but maybe it used to be called Drum Mild before the government insisted you couldn't imply any cigarette was in any way light a few years ago? Either way, this review is about Drum Gold.
A pouch of this will set you back around £2.60 for half an ounce (12.5g) or £5.10 for an ounce (25g). That's actually cheap compared to the going rate of a lot of similar brands. It works out a fair bit cheaper than pre rolled cigarettes too even after you've added in rizzlas and filter tips.
Although I'm usually a pre rolled cigarette man, I usually have a pouch of this tucked away somewhere for those times when I'm in the mood for rollies. This includes times when I want to smoke in the house as the smell is nowhere near what a cigarette leaves behind.
As well as having a mild scent, this tobacco has a very mild taste too. It's totally different from a normal cigarette and considerably weaker than a full strength roll up too. My mate, who usually smokes full strength cigarettes, had one of my rollies the other day and commented that he had to suck the life out of it to taste anything. I think that's a good way of describing how mild these are! But then that's a good thing if you're trying to cut down as it means your not taking in as many of the strong chemicals. There aren't all the chemical additives in rolling tobacco that there are in cigarettes anyway.
Considering the price I think this is an excellent rolling tobacco. It's easy to use and has a lovely mild scent and flavour. Also, inside the packets you'll find there is a velcro tab for resealing your bag as well as a little sticky tab to stick your rolling papers too. Chuck a few filters into the pouch and you're all set to roll.
Summary: A Mild Smoke.
