Being a smoker and due to the ever increasing inflation and the extra 11p here and there on packets of cigarettes, it becomes a costly habit, that at the end of the day is hard to kick and to be honest a lot of smokers out there don't actually want to quit.

I have tried to quit several times and I haven't got the willpower, or should I say that it boils down to me not wanting to quit. I remember when cigarattes were £2.50 for 20 cigarettes going back to when I first started, now you are looking at £4.25 for the cheapest packet of 20 to up to anything to £6 per packet.

I have tried Golden Virginia rolling tobacco before, however now I seem to be buying it all the time, purely because its a lot more cost effective, I don't tend to smoke as much of it and a rolled cigarette seems to lasta lot longer than a normal cigarette.

Golden Virginia tobacco comes in several different sizes, I go for the 25g packet that normally retails in the region of £5.50 for a packets and goes a lot further than twenty cigarettes for more or less the same price. The tobacco comes in a green and gold pouch that initially is in a cellophane wrapper. When you open the tobacco, it is sealed with a clear sticker, when you open this, it has an extra seal to keep the tobacco fresh and to prevent it from drying out.

It takes a little bit of time to learn how to roll a cigarette, but there are plenty of places that sell rolling machines that do all the hard work for you.

Its a more cost effective way to continue smoking if thats what you want to do. I am not trying to encourage people, just advise if there are people that don't want to quit but find it expensive.

THe tobacco itself is very soft to touch and comes in a big clump within the packet. WHen you have rolled the cigarette, either using a filter or not, it is quite a mild tobacco and rather smooth compared to some cigarettes on the market. The taste is by far not as bad as that of normal cigarettes either.

I've been smoking this for a while now and I doubt I will go back to normal cigarettes, I have found that it has made smoke less because of the hassle of rolling, although they don't burn as fast as normal cigarettes. I have also found that I have saved whilst smoking this, by at least £20 a week, which equates to £80 a month, nearly £1000 a year. Something worthwhile to consider if you are a smoker that has no intention of packing in.

nice review. I used to smoke this stuff years ago, (preferred it to amber leaf or old holburn), the only trouble was it cost me half a lung and did my breathing no good at all. But i did enjoy the taste of it at the time... regards, blissman
