Advantages: Great taste, great packaging

Disadvantages: Way too expensive

Although I occasionally indulge in rolling tobacco, mainly out of image more than anything else, I have always been a branded cigarette man. This is because I struggle to find a reasonably priced brand of tobacco that's suits my palette, as I find most of them way too strong. However, this brand may be on to something.

Golden Virginia, which I always mispronounce as Morning Virginia for my own bizarre reasons, is a fine cut rolling tobacco, and one my current favourites. Although on the rare occasions I do roll I like to settle for cheaper brands, such as Drum, the high quality and pleasant aroma of Golden Virginia makes it worth the price tag. The tobacco comes in the traditional plastic pouch, but unlike most brands it has an airtight zip lock to keep the contents fresh. This means the tobacco can stay moist and pliable for days, without drying out and getting that brittle texture I personally hate.

In terms of taste, well I don't know how to describe it. Golden Virginia is a very smooth smoke, nowhere near as harsh as some of the other brands, with pleasant, almost sweet, after taste to it. I know the idea of sweet tobacco sounds disgusting, but I personally find it quite enjoyable. Because Golden Virginia is a fine cut tobacco it is also very easy to roll with, especially for newbies, and stops you making those hated 'cigar' roll-ups that are about two inches thick and taste like burning tyres. Unfortunately because it's so fine you may find yourself going through it a lot faster than other brands, as a little pinch doesn't spread quite as far as I would like it.

In my opinion Golden Virginia is the perfect tobacco for the rolling clientele, it's only major failing being the price. Of course that, and the obvious drawbacks of smoking. But let's not talk about them. After all, this is happy review.

Summary: One of my favourite rolling tobaccos, although definitely not the most affordable
