Advantages: don't fall to bits, cheap - compared to other cigarettes, nice taste

Disadvantages: they kill you!

Before I start, I just want to say that I?m not recommending smoking to anyone. If you?re reading this review, I assume that you?re already a smoker and you?re interested in hearing about different brands. If you?re not, then don?t start, please!

When I started smoking at age 11 or 12, the first fags I bought were Marlboro Light. At the time they cost just over £1 for a packet of 10, which seems unbelievable now. Also, it took me about two weeks to get through a pack, so I wasn?t really bothered about the cost. After a while I wasn?t satisfied with them anymore so I started smoking Marlboro Red instead, and I loved them. My perfect fag. Unfortunately, the price just went up and up ? and up and up and up? Being an impoverished student and smoking about 10-20 a day, I realised I had to find a cheaper brand. So began my quest for the best cheap cigarette on the market.

In quick succession, I tried and rejected Sovereign and Mayfair. They both tended to fall apart and I didn?t like the taste. Then I settled for a while on Lambert and Butler, which seemed to be better made, but I couldn?t get used to the taste, and I didn?t like the pack design! I tried rollies for a while, but it was too much hassle trying to roll up in the wind and rain, and rolling tobacco always makes me feel a bit sick. So finally I discovered Richmond, and haven?t changed my brand since.

They come in a nice royal blue packet with gold edging which makes them easy to find if you?ve temporarily mislaid them. They?re very well made and never fall apart while you?re smoking them, unlike Sovereign. At under £4 for a pack of 20, they?re among the cheapest fags you can buy. And, most importantly, I really like the way they taste.

I know taste in tobacco is a very person
al thing, and every smoker probably has their own favourites. This is mine, and I?m sticking with it ? until I manage to give up for good.

Er, I'm not advertising anything, and I don't think a product being listed on this site counts as advertising. The whole point is to help people make decisions by listening to other consumers instead of the ads.

No-one's going to start smoking because they read a review on here, but like any other legally available product, if people spend money on it, they have a right to make informed judgements about what they buy.

I did also write in the first line of my review that it was meant for smokers who want to compare diferent brands.
