John Player Special
Advantages: Cheap (for fags lol)
Disadvantages: Cheap tasting and they don't taste all that strong
Before I start this review I am not going to apologise for being a smoker. I have been one for many years and at the moment I rather like smoking though of course I don't say everyone should and do recognise the health effects it has on smokers like myself.
However, smoking can be an incredibly expensive pastime of course. I can easily spend over £60.00 a week when my finances allow me to on Benson & Hedges which is why I will smoke cheaper branding cigarettes fro time to time and I do smoke roll ups to save my pennies rather alot.
The other day my flatmate went out to get our fags and I asked her to pick me up a packet of ten of the cheapest cigarettes she could see, as I was seriously low on money and these were the result. I have of course heard of them before but never (to the best of my knowledge) ever bought or even smoked one before.
Whether you buy a packet of ten or a packet or twenty the box appears the same and it's only the size that differs. The box is dark blue with silver and black writing on it and I am basically told that they are JPS, John Player Special, I'm given a health warning on the front of the box, I am also shown a photograph of a child on the back of the packet inhaling smoke and the composition of the cigarettes are given (10mg tar, 0.8mg Nicotine and 10mg carbon Monoxide). The packaging to me does appear a little cheap and tacky looking but the packet opens and closes with ease and the inside contains foil to retain the freshness of them.
Well like I said previously I got a packet of ten of them to smoke. They are standard size, with a long light brown filter to one end, under that JPS is stated and the cigarettes of course are tightly rolled.
Taste wise well what can I say? You can tell these are a cheap smoke really. When inhaling them they taste a little on the sweet side, exhale and they are rather harsh in their flavour and not one bit smooth. They smell like other cigarettes when lit and when blowing smoke out of course are just as unhealthy as any other tobacco and nicotine based product.
These are not a good option for me though. I find them to taste cheap and to me are not as strong in flavour as my favoured, more expensive brands. Too harsh, they make me cough like a lunatic and unless I'm seriously skint ever again I can't see myself purchasing them through choice...ever!
Expect to pay about £2.82 for a packet of ten and about £5.60 for 20 in all good supermarkets and general shops etc.
Summary: Not for me these!
