“ Manufacturer: Nakhla / Type: Tobacco „
One of my christmas presents this year was a Shisha (waterpipe) for tobacco. I used to smoke Shisha quite often whilst residing in Egypt for a short time and tend to have the odd puff any time I'm travelling in the Middle East. I rarely bother with it in Europe though but that's all about to change because my wife bought me one for Christmas and I'm in the process of discovering the wonders of reviewing all the types of flavoured tobacco.
First of all shisha tobacco is considerably better for you than the type you'd find in a cigarette, the reason being that it's devoid of tar and the other crap you can find in there. Second of all, it's filtered through water (or wine/milk if you're feeling inventive). There's still nicotine in it and I'm sure passing smoke of any kind through your lungs is not ideal, so it's not devoid of negatives.
There's a wealth of flavours available and long gone are the days where the choice was more or less limited to Apple and plain tobacco. Nakhla Strawberry Molasses tobacco, comes in a package about the size of a slab of butter, the tobacco is wrapped in a plastic air-tight bag and the minute you open it up, you get a strong whiff of strawberry.
Nakhla is a decent Egyptian brand and I know this stuff is genuine because it comes from a reliable source in Egypt but supposedly there is quite a lot of immitation Nakhla on the streets of London these days. Nakhla's Strawberry flavour is a very strong fruity strawberry flavour, it burns at roughly the same speed as any other molasses tobacco but still retains its flavour whilst it's charred which means it can last you quite a long time - ideal if there's several of you. You'll still need to use about 2 by 2 inches of it though.
The downside to this is that it seems to lose it's flavour extremely fast when left out of its plastic for even a short length of time, it dries out and will disappoint, I know because I left it out at a party and when I used it later much of the flavour had gone.
