What a cigarette! I have been smoking Richmond for around 6 years now, when my Mother changed brands as i was growing up as a teenager (Started young) Richmond where the cigarettes of choice. John Player as a company who makes cigarettes also make JPS which are cheaper however i feel they are not strong enough, a bit to much like Mayfair creamy for want of a better word. Richmond however are quite harsh cigarettes my mum swapped from Benson and Hedges to Richmond as she felt she still got a hit at the back of her throat. Since I have got older I have tried many different brands of cigarettes and nothing beats Richmond, they are on the cheaper end of the scale and full pack a good punch. The brand and packaging has changed over the years where they brought out a very awkward side opening pack however they are not back to the normal top opening. Richmond are also available in Menthol which are nice if you are an occasional smoker or have a swore throat as i don't think it hurts as much. King size are the perfect size cigarettes for me I find with a rollie they are not long enough with a standard paper and Super King feels like your smoking forever and im sure they taste different. I find that Richmond are a very well made cigarette to as you don't have issues like cherries falling off as you do with Lambert and Butler, which also leave you with a very swore throat the next day. Whats inside! I know a lot of people and smokers in general don't like to know whats inside but there is 10mg of tar 0.9 mg of Nicotine and 10mg of Carbon Monoxide which doesn't make them the strongest cigarettes however if you want to keep your voice just the right amount of Umph! Over all a very tasty cigarette, on the cheaper end of the scale and as far as im concerned nothing but Richmond will stop my cravings!
I smoke the Richmond's brand of cigarettes, made by the tobacco company, John Player. I started smoking at a young age, as most smokers do. I didn't like it but carried on because I thought it looked cool. I never used to bother what I smoked as it all tasted the same at that point. My first impression of Richmond's were really good. By this point, I was an experienced smoker and was trying to find the brand I liked the best. Richmond's cigarettes come in either 10 or 20's. The boxes and a rich deep blue with a morden "light beam" effect of pale baby blue lines. This is the limited edition box. Also on the packaging is the John Player coats of arms and warning labels, telling you the nasty effects of smoking. The Richmond taste is an extremely smooth one, and goes down with ease and no burning, and come out the same way, ease and no burning. Richmond contain a very average 10mg of Tar, 0.9mg of Nicotine and 10mg of Carbon Monoxide. Aftertaste is seldom with these cigarettes. I tend to find if I have eaten soon before I have a cigarette, I get an aftertaste as the nicotine clings to tiny food particles in my mouth. These cigarettes are available pretty much everywhere that sells cigarettes. They are an extremely popular brand, although sometimes they can be sold out in bigger places like Asda. The price varies depending on which store and if the cellophane has a price on or not. I find that the average price for 20 is about £5 and for 10, it's around £2.60. Overall, I personally find these are the best brand to smoke. I usually buy the Superking size, but as these aren't on dooyoo I would review the kingsize, they are the same afterall, only slightly different in size.
It seems a bit weird reviewing cigarettes but I've been smoking for 15 years so I guess I have the experience. I started smoking Benson and Hedges which at the time were £2.20 for 20! I smoked these for years until I had to start paying bills and watching my money. I found Lambert & Butler too strong as are Marlboro, Benson and Hedges superkings, Soveriegn and I started to dislike that awful taste they leave in your mouth but unfortunately I was hooked. A friend of mine had poached a packet of consulate menthol cigarettes from her mum and gave me one. I like these instantly as they didn't seem as strong or leave your mouth overly dry and no awful after taste. I know if you don't smoke you will think this is madness. Smoking when you don't like the after taste, but when your hooked your hooked! So I smoked them for a while but they were still a little expensive and they older I got the more I smoked especially when I was dieting and going out a lot so I needed a cheaper brand. Richmond came on the market so I smoked them for a while as they were one of the cheapest around and the quality was quite good too. Eventually I tried to quit and succeeded for 6 months but then one night out in the pub changed all that (I know I'm so weak). So when I started again I found regular Richmond a little strong so I went on to Richmond Menthol as they had just started doing them. I still smoke them now as they are cheap but don't burn your throat. The best thing about menthol cigarettes is that not many folk enjoy them so they won't be asking for a cig off you! My fella can't smoke them as he says he doesn't feel like he has had one. I only smoke these as they are the cheapest cigs that I can tolerate. I will quit, when I'm ready. Can't rate them too highly as they are so bad for your wallet and health.
I started off smoking lambert and butler when i was around the age of 15 but they kept on going up and up in price so much that i could not afford to spend my dinner money on them no more. lol. so i had to change brands a while back i remember thinking Richmonds were the old now Sterling, cheap nasty fags that would leave a nasty taste in the back of my throat and cough my lungs up. but when i did buy them i tried it and got hooked... well as far as i were already hooked from the nicotene. so i bought them each day from then on, they are great value for money fags with a pack of twenty still managing to stay under then £5 mark which is shocking as malboro, benson and hedges and even lamberts have topped that mark £5 they dont leave any horrid taste in my mouth and are quite a medium strength to what i need. great cigs! although i still wouldnt convince a non smoker to smoke them!
I agree with the other reviewers. These are a good 'medium' strength smoke at a very reasondable price. Unlike other cheap brands they don't have the nasty taste or smell. Well done JPS if I had my way everyone would smoke these
I started smoking Marlboro for some reason. No-one around here smokes them, they're really expensive and they're strong. But i liked them. Anyway, they were really expensive so i had to change brands. I tried Lambert & Butler, which were ok, i tried Mayfair smooth which were quite nice. But nothing tasted quite right. so then i found Richmond. Richmond are cheaper than Lambert (but not as cheap as Mayfair). Where I live a pack of 10 costs about £2.05. They look quite expensive, in their blue packaging, with gold letters - but they're not! They're a quality smoke. They are not as harsh as L&B, but have the same tar and nicotine levels: 10mg Tar 0.9mg Nicotine 10mg Carbon Monoxide I'm always trying new brands, but i always come back to Richmond King Size.
..yes, this opinion will probably evoke love or hate. I am a smoker. A heavy smoker. Especially becoming virtually housebound through illness/disability (not smoking related) just over two years ago. My cigarette consumption has gradually gone up from about 10 a day to around 30 a day - I enjoy it, I don't want to give up, it might kill me, I no longer care. That aside, when spending out so much on cigarettes on a reltaively low income of course I am inclined to opt for a cheaper brand without sacrificing too much in taste and quality. I found a good product to fit the bill all-round in Richmond cigarettes. To clarify I actually smoke the Superkings Lights variety which retail at around £3.55 - £3.70 a pack of 20 depending on where you buy them - this is anything up to a £1 or more cheaper than other well-known brands. I normally buy the 100 or 200 packs from the supermarket which works out at about 5p cheaper per pack of twenty. Richmond cigarettes are actually produced by The House of John Player - a well known and long established brand. They are in a silvery blue and white packet and do not look like as cheap as many cheap brands do. The type I smoke contain 8mg tar/0.8mg nicotine per cigarette and, of course, the packaging contains the usual Government health warnings. They are available in normal strength, normal king size and menthol (green pack) as well as the Light and Superking varieties. I find these cigarettes to be a pleasant smoke, not leaving that rough throated feel even after a heavy session and I will be sticking with these for some time to come (unless I miraculously give up).
Before I get bombarded with comments about how bad ciggarettes are for your Health,I am well aware of this, but unfortunately I am addicted to the Nicotine and thats that. I have tried various cheapish Brands like L&B,but found they gave Me a sore throat in the morning and the Tobbacco was too strong to inhale comfortably. Having bought Richmond Kingsize for about two years now I have got so used to them that I find it difficult to smoke other Brands. Richmond are packaged in a nice coloured Sea Blue with a classy Navy stripe through the middle, not that the packaging effects the taste of the Ciggarettes but it is very attractive to the eye. They are manufactured by The House Of John Player,I used to smoke John Player years ago, thats probably how I came to stick with Richmond as they are roughly the same in strength and quality. Richmond are available in Kingsize and superKings, all in packs of twenty. I dont buy the Superkings as I find them far too long, they never seem to end. They are available in both middle tar and low tar.But for Me unfortunately the low tar do not satify My cravings for Nicotine, they are just not strong enough. The ones I do enjoy smoking though contain 12mg of tar and 1.0mgs of Nicotine. On the packaging you will find the usual Health risk warning on the front and on the back a warning to protect your children from passive smoking by not making them breathe it in. To get around this My partner and I both smoke outside in the garden with the back door shut and yes We do go outside in the rain and even the snow. We just come back in shivering.... Richmond provides Me with a pleasant smoke, unlike some other cheaper brands. They are just the right strength for Me.
