Advantages: Relatively inexpensive

Disadvantages: Less Menthol than ever before!

I smoke a small amount each day, perhaps 5 cigarettes and up until now Richmond Menthol Superkings have always been my cigarette of choice. They are made by John Player, and the Richmond brand is around the 5th bestselling brand of cigarette owing to its relatively low pricing.

The boxes, come in sizes of either 10 or 20, and you can usually pick up 100 from places like Asda or other tobacconists. They are generally price marked, so you will expect to pay around £4.90 when they are not, and around £4.75 when they are on offer. Not as expensive as the likes of Berkeley Menthol or Marlborough Menthol, but certainly not the cheapest cigarettes.

Each cigarette has a filter, the gold Richmond logo on it and both a menthol filter, along with menthol sprayed tobacco. Sadly I have recently noticed a big drop on the quality of the cigarettes. They now seem to have big strands / chunks of tobacco in them which don't seem to burn down and although I realise they are the same in strength of tar, etc as they always have been, they seem a lot stronger and harsh on the throat, almost as if the menthol spray has been halved.

I have now switched to JPS (John Player Special) menthol, as they are cheaper per pack (around £4.20 for 20) and they are easier on the throat, you can taste the menthol and they seem to be better quality (no branches to try and smoke!). This is kind of ironic given that they are both made by the same company!

Summary: A poor quality smoke, many cheaper nicer menthol brands out there!

Back in the day I used to love Consulate. I don't smoke at all now though ;-)

Up until almost three years ago, I used to smoke and enjoy these - about 6 to 8 a day in summer time and 4 in the winter. Only because I never smoked indoors. I gave up though. Don't think I could afford them now, even if I wanted to start smoking again.

I smoke the regular Richmond at the mo. They are ok and cheaper than most I guess, but I prefer Berkley. I have never tried Menthol ones. Well great info on them.
