I find that because I am reliant on my lungs for a career, I am a lot more sensitive to second hand smoke than my other non smoker friends. Smoking provides the government with a lot of tax money, however they spend loads of the nhs on smoking related illnesses. Smoking in general ... all the warnings and negative commentary regarding smoking, this does not seem to stop smokers from holding a cigarette in their hands and puffing away, filling their lungs with tar and other "non-essential" products. Smoking is very addictive, and contains tar, nicotine, tobacco, and many other harmful substances. I am a smoker myself and can honestly say that I have tried several times in the past to stop, but it can be really hard, and sometimes when you have just had enough and are fed up with everything going on around you, nothing can be better than relaxing and having a smoke. I was about 18 years ago, struggling with stress on a big level, I had the strange desire to smoke; I say strange because I d never smoked before, but for some reason I envied the relaxing look of those who wrapped their mouths around the sticks and sucked in, then blew life s problems away. I felt like a criminal buying a packet in the shop (amazed at how expensive they were too), and armed with a pack of matches I sparked up quite easily outside the shop.
