So is cancer cool? (Smoking in general)

Smoking, its not cool and its not funny. This is the message that we should be giving out to kids, as a nation we should be united in trying to steer kids away from taking up smoking because it is perceived as cool and the thing to do.

This may be a little rash and harsh but I believe that a hard-hitting advertisement campaign on TV’s and billboards would do the trick. Something outlined the dangers as only graphic pictures and words can do. Smoking is not good, it causes death, it will kill you.

If it were cool to be bitten by poisonous snakes and die would kids do it? No, of course not. So they are not educated enough about the risks, either that or they don’t believe them.

When I see young children lighting up a fag after school I am sickened and appalled. This is not because I am easily offended or have strict morals. It is because society has inflicted the penalty of an early death on our youth as a result of smoking.

Smoking is in my opinion, a vile and stupid habit. Its clogs your lungs and the possibility of sever bronchitis and cancer is very real. And what do smokers get from this? A good sensation and a nice feeling, they like it. Absolute rubbish. Smoking does nothing to make you feel any different.

I can understand the use of alcohol and cannabis as these drugs actually have a short term beneficial effect. Smoking doesn’t. They only feel like it is good due to the dependency on the drug and the fact that their body’s now need and crave nicotine every hour of every day.

People who smoke have every right too, it is their life and so long as they don’t harm anyone else they can feel free to smoke. It is their life, for them to do with as they feel fit. We must however, counter the image that smoking is cool and a good thing to do. Let people make an informed decision to whether they want to smoke without pressure from friends and the media.
