Born To Play Fireman Sam Ambulance with Nurse Flood
Advantages: Great quality and well thought out
Disadvantages: very pricey
Hollie loves Fireman Sam. She watches the programme on Cartoonito all the time. I took Hollie to Morrisons so choose a toy of her choice to make her feel better as she was rather poorly.
She decided to choose this ambulance which is driven by Nurse Helen.
When we first picked it up, I was really dubious of purchasing it for the £9.70 it was costing. I couldn't quite believe they would charge such a large amount of money for something which is just part of a set.
When getting home, we realised that it was silly to buy the ambulance when Hollie didn't have the fireman Sam fire station or anything else to go with it. Hollie has a wild imagination so she ended up getting her Peppa pig play set out and Helen and her ambulance soon became part of Peppa pig's world.
Opening the box:
We popped into the cafe in Morrisons for a sandwich and sat with the box and Hollie wanted to play with it. We opened it and noticed it was screwed into the box so we would have to wait til we were home to open it. The screws were that small I had to use the end of a sharp knife as even the small sewing machine screwdrivers I have weren't small enough to get them out. Once it was out of the packaging, we explored the toy. It has two doors and a carboot door too which all open. They pop on and off easily just incase like Hollie, they get pulled off trying to get the doors open too roughly. The ambulance comes with the nurse Helen figure and her medical kit box. Helen can move her legs up and down to sit or stand.
Inside the ambulance, there are indents on the seat for her to sit in which keeps her from falling out or toppling over.
Her medical kit can be placed in the boot of the ambulance car but i've put it out of reach for now as it is rather small and will easily get lost so I bring it out when she is playing with it.
The quality of the product is brilliant. It has been designed brilliantly and with great care to get it to be so durable and looks great too. The plastic on the product is nice and thick compared to some of the toys you can buy now, where dropping it or being too rough with it would end up in it breaking, but this product is very resilient. The toy doesn't have many playable features, just the opening and shutting of doors, wheels turn and you can put Helen inside. I don't think it needs much more otherwise it wouldn't have the strong structure it has now. The age for this toy has been advised at 3 years and over.
I think this toy is best bought as an extra to the set otherwise it won't get much play time and for almost £10, you definitely want to see it get used.
There are lots of other vehicles in the Fireman Sam range as added extras.
You can get:
**Tom Thomas's rescue helicopter
**Jupiter fire engine
**Neptune rescue speed boat
**Venus fire engine 4x4
All of those are available online or in most supermarkets.
All of the Vehicles cost the same price of £9.70-£10 in morrisons whereas some researching it online, they are selling them for around £15 plus postage. Helen's ambulance was £18.50 plus £5 postage on Amazon where you could buy two vehicles for that in store and have some change.
We both have had lots of fun with Hollie's imagination playing with this toy and we plan to get the Fireman sam playsets for her birthday in April so we can play with it all together.
The best parts of this toy is the quality we wasn't expecting to see. It felt much better to part with the money when i'd seen the product instead of the box front we could only see in store. Fireman Sam has always been a much more gender neutral TV programme and Hollie has always enjoyed watching it.
We prefer watching the older ones which we have on DVD, to the new cartoon style episodes as it's much more easy to watch whereas, the new ones are much more difficult to watch as the voices of the welsh characters have changed to strong welsh accents with horrible high pitch squeaks.
We both can't wait to get the sets for her birthday so we can set it all up like we do her Peppa pig sets and just bring out the best of Hollie's imagination with the TV turned off and lots of concerntration and attention.
I hope you enjoyed reading my review.
