Advantages: Good addition to sets, likeness to TV show, long lasting, easy to play with.

Disadvantages: Bit pricey for what it is, doors pop off, screwed onto packaging.

My son went through a phase of loving Fireman Sam and although he still enjoys it he's moved onto other programmes now. For his birthday last year his Gran purchased him 2 of the Pontypandy vehicles, one being this ambulance containing a Nurse Flood figure and her medical box. As this was a gift I'm not sure how much it costs but I believe it was around the £10 mark.

The ambulance is bigger than other vehicles you can buy but it's not huge so it esily fits away into his toyboxes for storage. It's mainly all white with a splash of green and yellow here and there. It doesn't really look anything special but it does represent the ambulance in the programmes well which is what matters I suppose. The only moveable parts on this toy are the doors and the boot. However the doors pop off on a whim and althought they are relatively simple (for an adult) to clip back in place it becomes monotonous when you've done it 90 times over in the last 2 hours (perhaps a minor exaggeration there but it definitely feels like it). I also find my son becomes annoyed with this toy and fixes his attention elsewhere. The character has arms that move up and down and legs that fold at the hip to allow her to sit in the ambulance. My son is much more interested in the vehicle itself rather than the people that come with it and so Nurse Flood and her medical supplies have retired at the bottom of the toybox for quite some time now. The ambulances wheels are smooth and so I find that when it is being pushed it glides easily along the table or the laminated floor, I don't imagine it would be quite as easy on a carpet or rug.

The main way my son tends to play with this toy is to make it fly (creativity and all that) he opens the door up and it flies around however he does seem fond of adding it to his Fireman Sam playset that contains the local shop (on fire of course) with a road and a fire engine. I find that the ambulance fits on the road very well and due to the smooth wheels can whizz round to the shop in no time, as I said though that my son isn't interested in the characters but then he isn't in Norman or Dylis that he has either.

Overall I think this is either a good addition to the other Fireman sets available or just to be played with solo. It's a pretty basic toy for the price but I suppose you're paying for the likeness to the characters rather than for a basic ambulance. I would be happy to give this to my son even if he was 2 despite the 3+ age range as I feel this is just a precautionary measure put on most toys to cover themselves. The only other real complaint I have about this toy is that it is screwed onto the packaging which is a huge bug bear of mine, I don't understand what was wrong with the cable ties but however in all this deserves 4 stars.

Summary: A toy any Fireman Sam fan will enjoy.
