Advantages: Realistic to the show, easy for little hands to play with, encourages imaginative play

Disadvantages: Doors aren't very durable

My youngest daughter has not long turned 2 and she has took a great liking for Fireman Sam, I was given some Fireman Sam things from a lady on a free page on Facebook and to put it simply Emily is thrilled.

I have had a look on the internet and found that this set costs around £10 which is about the average price for this sort of set and there are many other sets available such as Jupiter the fire engine which comes with or without sounds, Venus the fire 4 x 4, Tom Thomas's helicopter and Neptune the speed boat.

As I didn't buy this new I didn't have to take it out of any packaging so cannot comment on how easy this is however I have seen it in shops and it comes packaged in a small carboard box.

The ambulance is made of plastic and is of course white in colour, it has some little bits of green and yellow on it too. The ambulance has two front doors both of which open and it also has a rear door which opens of course ready for your patients. In the front of the ambulance there is a seat and there are two indentations where the characters bums are supposed to sit, the toy comes with a rubbery feel nurse Flood character whose legs and arms move so you can sit her in the ambulance.

The doors of the ambulance aren't really that good as they pop on and off the main piece very easily so with a heavy handed 2 year old they are forever off rather than on. Apart from the doors the ambulance is well made and looks just like the one in the show which to me is really important as it has to be perfect in a childs eyes. The ambulance has been crashed off many bits of furniture and other items from the fireman Sam range, Emily seems to think she should park it in the firestation and forgets to stop so of course crashes it into the wall.

The toy is supposed to be for ages 3 and up but apart from the medical case which comes with Nurse Flood being a little too small I see no reason why it isn't safe for my 2 year old and she loves playing with it.

Emily was thrilled when she saw she had been given Fireman Sam stuff, she went over to the toy box and got the firstation and fire engine out which I thought was really good as it told me that she can link together the correct characters from the program. Emily plays for ages with this and the other pieces and is completely submerged in what she is doing so much so that she often doesn't even hear you when you speak to her. I love watching her playing and really enjoying her toys and think it's funny when she places the characters in her large baby bath!

This set is a decent price and I would recommend it it is just a shame the doors aren't too good.

Summary: A great for a Sam Fan
