      Great Toy

Having my nephew around over the Christmas period gave me not only the opportunity to spend some time with him, but more importantly, a chance to play with his toys ;)

One such item was the 'JCB 8250 Fastrac' a replica of a tractor which is available for £14.67 from Amazon.

Made by 'Britains' - a manufacturer which I hadn't heard of before, the company make a range of die-cast models which apparently have a well earned reputation for quality and authenticity.

Now i'm not someone who gets excited about tractors (or kettles for that matter thanks plipplop), but I was immediately impressed with this toy. This isn't one of those tiny Matchbox style cars that you can whizz across the carpet - no, this is a 1:32 scale model (18 x 8 x 9 cm) - which is actually incredibly life-like. I looked at a picture of the tractor which the toy is based on, and this small representation is very detailed and realistic. The real version is described as being the "largest and most powerfull JCB Fastrac, and has a 260 Hp engine and a operating weight of 10,640 Kg" - so now you know...

Secondly, I was impressed with the overall feel of the tractor. It's very chunky, and uses metal as well as plastic in its construction. The windshield has a plastic insert which looks very glossy and glasslike, and the overall colour of the model is vibrant. The front wheels turn - so you don't have to push in a straight line, and there is a general feeling of quality throughout.

The cab roof is removable and the rear of the machine has a tow thingy (technical term!) so you can add a trailer, or whatever tractors pull nowadays.

This toy would make a great collectors item, as there is a whole series of similar toy vehicles made by Britains. Due to the quality and overall look of this model, I would highly recommend it for children aged three years of age and over. My nephew likes pushing it around the floor... but then so do I.
