Great garage for the recommended age don't purchase for younger children though

I wanted a garage for the children who I mind to play with- I had my lg who is happy to play with anything so long as someone else is and I had throughout the week 0 girls and 6 boys who were all car crazy The colour of this garage is great, a dark blue plastic with grey parts, the sticker pack which it comes with are easy to apply and it is very appealing on the eye once put together Putting it together was more of a hassle than I had expected it was a bit fiddly and frustrating, If this is a gift I would recommend putting it together first as I imagine it would be much worse with a child next to you eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new toy There are 3 separate levels to this garage with a ramp to exit A lift to the levels Car wash Petrol pumps And a helipad this garage really is the centre of any game When I first purchased the garage my lg was 1 and the oldest boy I looked after was 2 The garage is not suitable from this age ( and it doesn't state that it is) I just assumed that if I took away the 5 cars which it comes with that the rest of it would be suitable for the children to play with, it was- to a certain extent however -the ramps are very wobbly and any pressure caused them to pop out of place - the lift kept breaking as they pulled the helipad bit off (it just needs clicking back into place but doing this every few minutes wasn't ideal) HOWEVER both the above faults have been down to me- now the children are older they are less heavy handed and neither of these problems occur any more I would say that overall this garage is ideal for the age it is recommended for and although with a lot of toys you can pretty much ignore the recommended age and use your own judgement in this case I judged it very very wrong! For a younger child I'd recommend the elc whizz around garage as it's much sturdier, however if they are a mature 2 year old or 3+ I'd suggest this garage will last a lot longer! The 7 year olds still use this one and they don't look too old for it at all

        a good little garage

My son received this garage from Santa (helped by his Gran) two years ago. He is a typical boy and loves playing with toy cars so a garage was a good choice of present for him. Over two years on, this garage is still played with but not as much as before. ~Chad Valley Garage~ Age recommendation : 3 years and over This garage has three different levels and includes stickers to decorate, a helipad, petrol station, lift, carwash and five coloured cars. It requires some adult assembly but doesn't need any batteries to run. (Insert sizes) ~Price and Availability~ This garage set is available from Argos and www.argos.co.uk priced at £19.99. They also have a wooden Chad Valley garage priced at just £7.99 at the moment. ~Our Thoughts~ My son was 6 months below the recommended age limit when he received this garage but has always been supervised when playing with any toy so this has never been a problem for us. If you have a child who puts anything in their mouth then confiscate the cars! The garage itself is made from durable plastic. We found the garage easy to put together as all the pieces slot together and remain secure. The stickers included arrows to show the drivers which way to go. The plastic car wash, petrol station and security gates are fiddly to secure in place and a child wouldn't be able to do this alone. They remain in place once secured and there the complete garage feels smooth to the touch. This garage is a permanent toy in the living room and whilst it is a good size, it doesn't take up a massive amount of floor space or get in the way at all. The garage was an instant hit with my son. It is dark blue and grey in colour so not the most exciting, eye catching coloured garages but still appealing all the same. This garage has been well loved by my son and is a good size for both him and his cousin to play with together. When not in use, it is great for storing all the little cars that we have in our home. The little cars provided are of a good quality and nicely colourful but very easy to lose. I'm sure they are in the house somewhere but will be muddled with other cars we have. This garage is very fun to play with. There are three large ramps for the cars to speed down to the next level and these are wide enough to accommodate different sized cars. My son likes that there is enough height between the levels for his large vehicles and trucks to move around freely without becoming stuck. I love hearing and seeing my son using his imagination especially when it comes to playing with a simple, classic toy like a garage. He enjoys moving his cars around, making engine noises and stopping to pretend to fill up the gas tank or to get the car cleaned. Oh to be a child again! The different plastic features look the part. A positive aspect of this garage for my son is the helipad. He was more than happy to incorporate Harold the Helicopter (from Thomas the Tank) or his police helicopter into this set as they both fit perfectly on the helipad. The helipad also doubles up as the lever which works the lift. This is a fun feature of this garage but from a parents point of view, a very annoying feature as it is incredibly loud! The lift itself is quite small and attatched to the top of the helipad by two pieces of string. It does feel a bit flimsy and sometimes the cars slide off the other side. The lift transports cars up the different levels and my son enjoys this feature. ~Conclusion~ This garage has stood the test of time and has remained in near enough perfect condition. It is sturdy (my son has tried standing on it and it remains undamaged by this) and has been appreciated by my son. Sometimes it remains unplayed with for a few weeks as Boo seems to get attatched to playing with certain toys for a short while and then returns to something else. During this time it seems to gather dust and often needs a wipe down with a cloth which is easy enough to do. Overall we can recommend this garage. I think £19.99 is a fair price for a well made garage and this particular garage has been well loved and played with. We own quite a number of Chad Valley toys and find them to be worth the cost and of excellent quality. Thanks for reading :)
