An expensive adventure buggy for Peppa Pig

My girls both enjoy playing with the red Peppa Pig car that they have at one of the toddler groups they go to so I looked around for one for them to have at home. This pink buggy car looked nicer than the red one and I managed to pick up a local collect one from ebay quite cheaply. What do you get? The pink buggy doesn't have a roof so your child can easily see inside where Peppa, her little brother George and Mummy and Daddy pig sit. The characters are fixed into the buggy which I think is a shame as it limits play with the toy. There is a steering wheel in the buggy but again this is fixed in place so can't be played with. On the bottom is an on/off switch, when turned on the buggy plays a short clip of Peppa Pig music and says a few phrases like 'this is fun' and 'is everybody ready, yes Daddy Pig, then lets go!' The wheels on the buggy are a decent size and it is easy for a 2 year old to push around even on carpet and is suitable from 18 months. In play Both of my girls, now 3, have enjoyed playing with the buggy and although it doesn't hold their attention for long they do still regularly play with it. The play is limited to pushing it around to 30 seconds or so because there isn't much else to do with it. Unless turned off it does randomly play the music or phrases to remind you that it is still around. We haven't needed to replace the batteries in the year that we've had it and I expect them to last until we are ready to sell it which I imagine will be in the next year as the girls at 3 are now expecting more of their toys! Price and availability This adventure buggy is currently (January 2014) available from Toys r us for £19.99, I think this is very overpriced and paid less than half this for a second hand one. Would I recommend? Yes, if you can pick one up cheaply as I don't feel it is worth £19.99 due to the limited play that it offers a child.

Not the best Peppa Pig toy!

I bought this Peppa Pig Adventure Buggy for my daughter in my local charity shop about a year ago, it looked barely played with and for just £1 I thought I had picked up a bit of a bargain. My daughter has been a massive Peppa Pig fan since she was 2, she is now nearly 5 and still loves the programme and characters just as much. The Peppa Pig Adventure Buggy is quite large and chunky, it is made out of a decent quality thick plastic. The car is a pinky - purple in colour with silver trimmings, there is a grey handle at the back. Daddy pig sits in the drivers seat with Mummy Pig in the seat next to him, Peppa and George are sitting in the back, they are all dressed in their usual clothes. My daughter finds this to be a rather boring toy and so she does not play with it on a regular basis, when she does play with it it is for only around 10-15 minutes at most. Clearly, this isn't the greatest toy we own, in fact its rather disappointing. The buggy can be pushed around on the floor and my daughter finds this easy enough to do, when she was younger she would use the grey handle to help with this. When she first got the buggy we would sometimes play with it together, pushing it back and too. The buggy also makes a variety of sounds, with Peppa Pig saying phrases such as "are we there yet?" and "This is Fun" these become rather repetitive and irritating, thankfully there is a on / off button located on the bottom of the buggy. The toy takes 3 AAA Batteries*, I have never needed to change the batteries, but I look forward to the day they finally run out. My daughter has always been really disappointed that the characters cannot be removed from the car, so apart from pushing it around there is not much else to do with it. A quick look online shows the Peppa Pig Adventure Buggy retails for around £13.00, i certainly don't think it is worth this price. Considering I only paid £1 for it I guess I cant complain too much, however the toy is very limited and I think most children will get bored of it easily, therefore I can only give this toy 2 Dooyoo stars out of 5. * Batteries are not included

This is not worth £20 and is a very disappointing toy

WHAT IS IT? A toy car with Peppa Pig and her family sitting inside. WHAT DOES IT DO? It is a push car that plays musical sounds and says phrases from the show in Peppa and Daddy Pigs voices. WHAT I THINK I have always loved the look of the Adventure Buggy but do not think it is worth £20 because it does not do very much. The volume is very loud and you cannot turn it down, I do not usually care how loud the children's toys are but this has got a very booming sound and it would be good if you could choose to have it low or high like on other Peppa Pig toys. The figures do not come out of the car and this was not clear when I bought it. For that price I expected my daughter would have a set of figures to play with as well as the Adventure Buggy. The car is big so pushes very smoothly on the wheels, there is a roll bar at the back like you see on real beach buggies and that is in a good place to children to use it as a handle while they are pushing it. The batteries do not last for very long and I think that is because of how loud the sounds are. It plays the Peppa Pig tune but does not say many phrases and I think that could be a lot better. The voices sound like the characters and a child would recognise them even if they didn't see the car. WHAT MY DAUGHTERS THINK I bought this for my daughters to play with together but neither of them have played with it much. We have had it for 2 years but they have only played with it for a maximum combined time of about 3 hours because they get bored with it. It is easy for them to use because you only have to press one of the adult pigs to make the sounds work. They were disappointed when they first played with it because the Adventure Buggy looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. ANYTHING ELSE The Adventure Buggy measures 12.5cm (w), 20.5cm (l) and 14cm (h) and it's recommended age range is 18 months to 4 years. 3 Dooyoo Stars.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A nice enough toy but nowhere near worth it's £20 price tag!

My daughter received this Peppa Pig Adventure Buggy for her second birthday, she's always been a huge fan of Peppa and her family so this seemed an ideal gift to add to her ever-growing collection of piggy related toys. This is a very basic toy car, despite the fact that it looks so good. You have Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, Peppa and George sitting in their open top buggy - this is a simple push along toy but does require batteries for the sound effects. Hollie's is the pink car you can see above but the toy is also available in a washed out blue colour, which honestly is not half as attractive as the pink, although to be fair having the blue option makes the toy more suitable for little boys who are fans of Peppa. The characters are fixed into the car which is equally pleasing and irritating; pleasing because it means they're not going to get lost, irritating because I remember the day Hollie was given this car and the tantrums invoked when she realised she couldn't remove Peppa to play her usual games with her. Actually I'm happy they can't be removed, I spend most of my time picking up tiny toys so it's a relief that these can't be scattered around the house! They all look great and identical to the way the characters are depicted on the television; Mummy Pig looks like she's gone a little bit overboard with the mascara (in fact she appears to have two large spiders on each eye) but apart from that they're all wearing instantly recognisable clothing and are seated in the traditional family manner of adults at the front and children in the back seat. As Hollie pointed out quite recently, none of them are wearing a seatbelt but her dad explained this away by muttering something about not needing to wear a seatbelt on quad bikes or (erm) adventure buggies. Which sounds daft but is slightly better than my answer of 'For god's sake! I don't KNOW, Hollie'. When you press down on Mummy Pigs head you have the pleasure of the sound effects, there's no up and down volume but thankfully they can be switched off using a small slider switch on the underside of the car. The sound effects are extremely repetitive and very loud, gratingly loud at times and this isn't helped by the fact that these sounds are also ever so slightly distorted and don't really sound all that much like the Pig characters in the car. The batteries seem to last forever, ours have just recently failed after three years - although this isn't really an indication of how power effective the car is, more that it's never been a favourite toy of Hollies so hasn't been used as much or as frequently as other battery operated toys in her toy-box. The car works well, pushing along smoothly without and skill needed to direct it in whatever direction you want it to go it. The wheels are fairly free wheeling and you can give it a little shove and watch the buggy travel a short distance before coming to a stop, this is best done on a wooden floor as carpet slows it down - this is true of any push along toy car, although to be fair this one does cope surprisingly well when pushed on our thick shaggy rug due to the relatively tall wheels. This is actually a very smooth car and I'm always pretty impressed by the fact that it travels in a reasonably straight line when pushed, it's heavy though so if you have the kind of stroppy toddler that I seem to have this time around (David, not Hollie) you might want to think about putting it away until the 'throwing' stage has passed. This might not be the worlds most exciting Peppa Pig toy (actually, in my experience Peppa Pig toys are rarely exciting) but it's very well made. The plastic is chunky and all 'bits' are securely attached to the toy, there's nothing that looks likely to break off and Hollie's Adventure Buggy doesn't have so much as a scratch or scuff on it despite being played with and bundled under a mountain of other toys in her toy-box. I've just given the wheels a little wiggle and can confirm they are as solid to the underside of the car as they were the day we bought it - in fact the only thing that spoils the looks of this toy is Mummy Pig's mascara! The price of this makes me hopping mad, as do the prices of anything even remotely connected with the Peppa Pig franchise. I think ours cost around £15, which is bad enough for a basic (if attractive) car, but it now costs a whopping £20 on Amazon - this is scandalous in my opinion considering for this price you could purchase a veritable fleet of cars from Argos or any toy shop. The Adventure Buggy is recommended for children from eighteen months to four years and this seems about right, Hollie is five now and between her and her twenty month old brother they do still play with the car occasionally - although to be honest they both have much more exciting toys so this doesn't get a look in too often.

not worth the £18 price tag.

Peppa pig is a big thing in this house. It truly had taken over the house. It was first introduced when we couldn't get it on Sky as we didn't buy the children's package so we bought some DVDs for her to watch. For about 5 weeks those 2 DVDs were replayed every day all day. When it came to Christmas that year, we decided to buy her some toys and more DVDs. This peppa pig car isn't played with very often. It is a lovely toy but Hollie doesn't find it very stimulating. ABOUT: =========== The car is pink with Daddy pig, Mummy pig, Peppa and George sitting inside. They cannot be removed unfortunately which I think is why it isn't played with very much. When my dad purchased it for Hollie for a Christmas present, we didn't realise the only things it does is make noises and can be pushed along. For the £18 that was paid for it, I think he was being ripped off. It just plays the peppa pig music, a few words and a few snorts. There is a picnic basket on the top and the characters are all wearing their recognisable clothing from the TV programme. Hollie wasn't so bothered with this car at all when she saw it. You can also buy this car in blue for boys, but they are still the same thing with not many functions at all. It's never a good idea to buy a present without checking what the toy is going to do, and sadly me and my dad didn't check so we came back very dissapointed when Hollie didn't play with it like we thought she would. Underneath has an on and off switch which will come in handy when you accidently knock it while your child is sleeping. MY OPINION: ================ Over priced for what the toy does. £18 is a terrible waste of money on something that has minimal functions. It's too loud for such a small toy, it really needs to have a volume control button for when it's accidently been left on. I don't have too much of an opinion on this product as my daughter really doesn't want to play with it and has no enthusiasm towards it at all. It sits on her shelving unit and barely ever makes it down. She ends up taking it off to get to other things and putting it back. I wish i could say something positive about it, but it's nothing special at all. We love peppa pig and have lots of DVD's at £2.99 a pop so for the price this cost us, we could have got 6 DVDs!

              Disadvantages

There are much better character toys

My 3 year old was given this toy for her 2nd birthday and she pushed it along a couple of times and that was it she had no interest. Now she actually knows what Peppa pig is she is a little more interested but the toy seems pretty limited. The toy is strong purple plastic with large black wheels and Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, Peppa and George sat in it. The figures are stuck to the actual car so the child can't take them out for pretend play which I find pretty poor. The toy has one set of sayings, there is about 5 short phrases / music but they are all said together and that is it. You get a bit of the music and then Daddy pig says "are we all ready?" everyone saying "yes daddy" and him replying "well lets go" before another little piece of the music. I find this toy annoying as if I am tidying after my children are asleep it is totally impossible to put this toy away without setting it is off. My daughter seems totally bored with this as it has very little entertainment value and is most definitely not worth the money. I think this will be heading for the charity shop very shortly.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

I wouldn't recommend this particular toy there is lots more fun toys in the Peppa pig range

Last Christmas I went a little mad on Peppa Pig toys for my son who was mad on Peppa. Most of the toys he got he loved but this adventure buggy just didn't seem to have enough going on with it compared to the others. On Christmas day my son loved it. He found it great fun pushing up and down the living room floor but it soon found its way to the bottom of the toy box! Now this purple buggy is funky looking with the bright colour, big black wheels and large headlights. I have seen it on Amazon, you can get it in light blue if you want. I hadn't seen this at the time. The buggy is made of strong plastic and has no little small sharp parts to worry about. Sat in the buggy is Mummy pig, Daddy pig, Peppa and George. These characters do not come out of the car they even don't move they are just for decoration. My son found this a little disappointing. Recently I was tidying out the toy box when I came across this again. My 11 month son got hold of it and loved it. He loved the fact when you pushed it, it started talking. But I think this says it all. It's interesting for an 11 month old and that's about it. An older child who is a fan of Peppa would find this boring. It is a very simple push backwards and forward buggy. It does go rather quickly along our wooden floor which my son loved but then doesn't most cars you can buy. My son has lots of push along cars and trucks and they didn't cost the price of this one! Now it requires 3 AAA batteries which you don't get with it. And then the music and sound effects commence! And boy does it get on your nerves after a while. Underneath there is an on off switch which my son quickly found. As soon as you switch it on the theme tune starts up and then daddy pig shouts 'Are we all ready yet?' 'Yes daddy pig' they shout from the back 'Well let's go' Daddy pig replies. Then we have Peppa laughing 'this is fun' 'faster faster'. Then the buggy beep beeps and the theme tune begins playing again followed by snorting. My youngest loves all this! It is quiet loud and there isn't a volume control on it so you just have to put up with it. Now at Christmas this toy cost £16 from most toy stores. I was lucky to get it half price in a sale earlier on. There is no way it's worth £16 you can get the Peppa pig rocket for not much more and that is so much more fun. I have to say I was disappointed with this toy especially when I thought I was getting a bargain at half price. It turns out it's probably all it's worth. You can get it for £10 on Amazon now and you will probably pick it up cheaply on ebay. That aside it is a nice looking toy and is well made. It just doesn't do a great deal which is a real shame.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Looks great - but £16 for what is basically a plastic car is a bit over the odds.

My neighbour very kindly bought my granddaughter a gift for her second birthday, the Peppa Pig Adventure Buggy was beautifully wrapped and became a firm favourite as soon as my granddaughter's eyes fell upon it. She already has a Push 'N' Go car from the range and this looks very similar only this time Peppa and her lovely family are sitting in a snazzy pink adventure buggy, they are wearing clothes you will recognise from the television programme and they are designed to look as close as possible in appearance to the characters. Unfortunately this toy isn't half as interesting as the car and my granddaughter quickly became bored of it. When you push down Mummy Pig's head a short burst of the Peppa Pig theme tune is played followed by Daddy Pig saying "Are we all ready?" to which the rest of the family chorus "Yes, Daddy Pig" and he replies "Then let's go!". Then the short theme tune is played again. It does this every time, and absolutely nothing else. It drives my granddaughter barmy because she is used to toys which speak random phrases from a small selection, this Adventure Buggy has no variation at all which my granddaughter obviously found repetitive as she rarely presses it now - not even three weeks since she received the gift. The car is a very simple back and forth push along toy, which my granddaughter loves. She gets a little frustrated at times with the Push 'N' Go cars in her toy box because her co-ordination isn't yet quite good enough to get them to work every single time, yet this buggy works so smoothly on the free rolling wheels that she can push it around playing whatever games it is that two years olds play when they get engrossed! The buggy is seemingly durable too, I've seen two incidents where it could have been damaged (and doubtless there have been many, many more) but everything still looks brand new with no rattles or damage at all. It's made out of that kind of thick chunky plastic that you know is going to last well; when my granddaughter threw it over the top of the stair gate in temper and the buggy bounced off every single stair tred in my daughter's house I thought it was going to be smashed beyond repair but it caused absolutely no problems whatsoever! I'm torn about what I think about this toy, and so is my granddaughter I think. Visually she loves it because it's Peppa Pig and she enjoys playing with it as a basic car, but the sound effects are so boring that she doesn't even bother pressing Mummy Pig down anymore which is a shame because this is surely what the toy is basically intended for. I have since found out that this toy cost over £16 in Tesco and think this is completely overpriced for what it is and what it does. There is no way I would ever have bought this at that price, although to be fair the product does look very good in the package and it's only once opened and played with that you realise this is such a dull toy and therefore you've already paid over the odds!
