Advantages: Fun toy for babies, still fun for young children.

Disadvantages: Only includes one ball.

Ages 6 months - 5 years

We bought this for my youngest son's first Christmas, although he was really to young to do much with it besides watch his older brother play with it as he was only 4 months old.He did seem to enjoy looking at the balls though. By 8 months though when he could sit up well on his own, he really enjoyed this toy, and both children (ages 2 -5) still use it today.

This set consists of the "town" basically and elevator and a ramp, three plastic shapes or signs that pull out of slots ( and get lost a lot ) and one clear plastic ball with a yellow car inside. The child places the ball in the elevator and pushes the ramp up the ball will roll part way down the ramp and then stop in front of one of the coloured plastic buttons. The child pushes the light up button of the same colour and the ball rolls down to the next shape, making noises, such as an engine revving, a dog bark and bells ringing as it goes. It does seem very simple, but children seem to love balls and ramps. Add cars to the mix and it is even more fun. My sons have spent hours with this and are playing with it now as I type this review. as an added bonus, the balls also float and make good bath toys.

It is sturdy and well made, and the balls have survived being thrown several times. The main disadvantage I would see to this toy is that young children do naturally tend to throw balls, and these are very hard. You don't want tone hitting the fish tank to hard, and they are not entirely pleasant hitting the back of your head or landing in a cup of hot tea. I also think one ball is not really enough and it would have been more fair to include 3 which gives you enough to keep them rolling down the ramps and going up the elevator pretty well. We did end up buying an extra pack.

I do quite like this toy as it is nice for a young baby, but not too quickly outgrown. My boys have enjoyed this quite a bit and continue to do so.
This requires 3 AA batteries but they do last. We put in Duracell and have not changed them in almost 2 years now.

Summary: A great toy for baby that will still be played with years later.
