      Recommended by my boys.

      Recommended ages: 3+

This is another set loved by both my sons, ages 2 and 5. The car starts on the red elevator which the child lifts to the skull. When the car hits the back of the skull, it lets out a laughing sound and orders "hands off my gold" as the skull snaps around trapping the car. You then push a lantern shaped button releasing the car onto the swinging bridge while the eyes glow with bright red lights. The bridge collapses sending the car speeding down to the bottom level, where it is launched forward by the tnt case slamming into rocks to win the buried treasure. You do have to push the lever on the tnt box very hard or the car will not go fast enough to break up the rocks.

This separates into a number of parts which I find annoying, as I am forever looking for one piece or another. the fact that it does not stay put together well and is always dropping off small bits would cost in one star from me, but the fact is, the kids love it. I would certainly buy it all over again, in spite of the fact that the price has doubled in the last 2 years. It is still a brilliant toy and so much nicer than what is on offer in the shops now for small cars like this. The boys love the flashing lights and pirate laugh, as well as watching the car race down the ramps.

This includes one car. The one show is purple but I believe ours was green. It will work with most Match Box, Hot Wheels or other similar die cast cars. Of course you will get the odd one a bit too long to fit properly. Also very light weight cars may not trigger the skull to spin and trap the car. Two AA batteries are required, but very rarely need changing.

I would recommend this from about 18 months with supervision, and up to about 8 years of age. Basically if your child enjoys playing with Hot Wheels and Match Box cars, this is apt to be a big hit.
