Our son is cars mad and has almost all the die cast cars available from the film.

Mater is one of his favourite characters and so, of course he has this Mater die cast metal car. This vehicle seems to me (and him) to be a really good replica of the film character and as Mater is a really funny main character in the film, somehow this friendly, funny character seems to have been transferred perfectly into this well made car.

Although the Disney Cars die cast vehicles are quite a lot more money than normal die cast cars such as Hot Wheels etc (this one cost us £3.49 from Tesco's aproximately one year ago) they are worth every penny in general as they seem to last a lot longer and withstand a lot more vigourous, boyish play than the aforementioned brand. My little boy has thrown, pushed, wheeled and crashed this Mater down slides, stairs, whizzed it in dirt, raced and crashed it on laminate floors, roundabouts, carpets - in fact you name it, my son has probably done it and apart from a few minor chips of paintwork and the thin plastic tow cables at the back of the car snapping off, its as good as new.

The only thing I would say is once you buy one Disney cars car it does get addictive (and expensive) as you just have to have more - and more there are - there are literally hundreds of different models available and it might not be just your kids who are desperate to get more (my hubby, daughter and I get so excited when we see these cars in shops in the hope that we might find a new one - be warned - they are addictive for all ages!!!!)
