      Very helpful

Expensive and played with just once. Save your money

My son saw this advertised on the television and immediately had one of those "I want one" moments. He persisted with the fact that he would like one and as his birthday was coming up I asked my parents would they buy it as his gift. They agreed and my mum purchased it from her mail order catalogue-Littlewoods I think and it was around £25.00. I have noticed you can now buy it at Toys R Us for £14.99 and I still think that is too much! Let me explain...

The basic principle of this toy is to put your car on the ramp and whack a button as hard as you can and hope that you hit the octopuses head and make it come open! That is pretty much it! You also need to hope that your car can jump all the way across the ramp and land on the other side.

It comes in a bright and good quality hot wheels box with a picture of the toy on the front. When you open the box you have a bit of assembly to do to make the octopus, the ramp and the opposite side of the ramp all attach together. When you have done this there isn't any other setting up to be done other than to add water to the section under the ramp and to the octopus.

You receive one hot wheels colour changing car with the set which I think is ridiculous. A set this price and I would at least expect three cars if I am honest. When you put the car into warm water it changes to a pink or purple colour and goes back to black when it is cold.

My son was bored with this toy after just one session of playing with it-and in all has played with it for around 15 minutes and that is all. It is such a shame as it was an expensive product and I feel quite bad that I encouraged my parents to get it. I am not overly familiar with the Hot Wheels brand other than that I know they can be quite expensive but I think from now on we will stick to them just for purchasing the small toy cars and will leave the sets well alone as these all look much of a muchness to me.

The age on the product is for children aged 4+ but I would honestly not bother. Spend your money on something that your child will actually be willing to play with, and will have fun with.

One postive is that the item isn't very big and so stores away easily in a toy box.

1 dooyoo star from me I am afraid as my son just has no interest in playing with it after he played with it once.
