Advantages: Hours of fun

This was yet another toy which my other half said Lauren needed for her 4th birthday - More like it was something he wanted!
We purchased this in the summer from Toys R Us and cost nearly £60.
I do not think it is worth anywhere near the money we paid, for this we got just under five meters of track, which may sound like a lot but when it is laid on the floor, it really isn't.
Upon opening, Lauren did not seem that interested and quickly discarded it to move onto opening the next present. A couple of days later and after a large Christmas dinner I had decided to have 40 winks on the settee only to be awoken to the sound of giggling. I opened my eyes to see my living room floor covered in the track and them both racing each other around the track. Lauren was Lightning McQueen and he was Chick Hicks. Lauren found it highly amusing that she was 'winning daddy' and his car kept coming off the track. To be honest, I also found the fact a 4 year old was better at racing than a 32 year old man.
My sister had a Scalextric when I was younger and I can always remember applying too much pressure and the cars coming flying off when they went around the corners however Lauren mastered this quite easy and hardly ever comes of the track. If she does, she quickly races to get the car back on, shouting "Daddy, wait for me"
This is now one of the regular toys Lauren gets out at the weekend, although it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, they both love it (even if he does get frustrated, apparently his car does not work properly!)
As I said before, you dot get much for you money so we purchased some extra track from EBay, you can get an additional 4 pieces for about £2 including postage.

I would recommend buying a Scalextric, I think we paid that little bit more as we opted for the Disney Cars version, you may be able to pick this version up a bit cheaper now as we purchased about the time Cars 2 came out.
