Advantages: Dances, flashing lights, really cute.

Disadvantages: Some have faults.

I think this toy is meant for much older children, but we bought it for my 2 year old son because his brother had an rc car and this way they could both play.

The car is about 8-10" long, and has very bright flashing led lights which the boys both like. It is powered by a rechargeable battery pack, which is basically 4 ni cad AA batteries wrapped together. The control also takes 2 AA batteries which are included in the box. Our car is blue as shown, but I also saw green and gold versions.

The toy is relatively easy to operate, my 5 year old has no problems. My 2 year old will occasionally get the car stuck against a kerb, but that is just because he doesn't think to hit reverse. The car goes forward and backwards, right and left and can stand up on two wheels and spin about. There is a a robot shape on the bottom of the car so it makes you think of one of those dancing transformers when spinning about. It seems to pretty sturdy and it has survived a couple of drops and tumbles without any harm.

On the downside, the car is not nearly as fast as many rc cars, but then it is a lot cheaper as well. It is on special for £14.99 at Smyths right now.
There is one other problem with some of these cars though. The first one we bought did not turn . We returned it to the shop as faulty and were given another one with no questions asked. However, there were a couple of other cars also on the return desk. This leads me to believe it may have been a common fault. It wasn't much of a problem for us, but I would not have been well pleased if I had bought this and put it away for Christmas. You also must charge this up before using. If buying this toy as a Christmas gift I would strongly recommend charging and testing before Christmas to avoid disappointment.

Overall I am very happy with the toy. Based just on the second toy I would give this 5 stars. I have taken one star off though because obviously the first one we bought was not the only one with problems. For us it was just and extra trip to the toy shop, but it would be quite disappointing as a gift.

Summary: A fun toy and really cute, but test first.
