My son was railway mad when he was younger and we still have all his vast collection of Brio. The collection includes several vehicles such as the Brio fire engine and ambulance. The Brio ambulance was given to him as a birthday present when he was 6. I see it is still available from several retailers and costs around £12. So is it worth the price tag?

The Brio ambulance is designed to fit with the Brio railway,although it can be played with alone. I love wooden toys and this one is really well made and has stood the test of time. It consists of a front engine with wagon pulled behind. The wagon is easy to fit to the engine with a small magnet. The wagon is designed to carry the patient and has a roof that lifts up. The set comes with a paramedic and female patient. The set comes with batteries (2 AAA) and has realistic flashing lights and sound. The light and sound mechanism is activated by pressing the top of the engine. The engine and wagon measure 16.5 cm in lengthy.

My son really loved this little set. The light/sound mechanism is easy to operate for small hands and the batteries last forever! The figures can be posed so making play more fun. On the negative side the ambulance looks nothing like a real life ambulance! However this didn't seem to bother my son. The toy is designed for children form aged 3. It is an expensive set,but really well made and has lasted well!
