Who is going to play trains with me?

Lets start by making a basic circle we need 8 pieces of the wooden track look how easily they link together like a jigsaw Shall we put that red engine on the track you can put the wagon on it there move the train round the track its got a magnetic coupling when you put the magnet of the train next to the magnet at the end of the truck it will pull the truck round after it, ohhh its not pulling the truck is moving away from the train? I know why it must be because that we have two like pole magnet ends as they repel. Lets turn the truck around yes that’s better the magnets are attracted to each other that must mean it’s a negative pole and a positive pole. Lets make it go round the track choo choo (that’s good they have learn some science about magnets too)

That’s a bit boring, just a circle help me make some more track I have got a big tub we can make figure of eights we can make some bridges. I have got a station set here somewhere lots of crossing pieces it won’t take too long to set up cos the bits fit together easily mmm can you work out how to make this track join ? I think I need to take one of the curved pieces out and put a piece of straight track in. Yes that’s better it needs a bit of thought to get it set up so that the track joins.

We have built our track now lots of loops a fast straight length a bridge or two a station. Now we need the train there are lots of trains available they cost about £5.
I have got a new bob the builder house that attaches to the train track
(cost 29.99) that’s good bob the builder can help build the track over there or there is a hedgehog crossing he can put in position (£9.99)

We can go on safari with my safari train an engine and 3 carriages to transport the animals in there is a lion and an elephant oopps the giraffe fell of I was going to fast round the corner. The safari train cost £19.99.

There are lots and lots of brio train sets and accessories for sale I found a good site to look at them compare and decide which sets to buy it is www.mailorderexpress.com/BrioShop
A deluxe set cost £399.99p it has 131 play pieces (I do not think Adrian will be getting this for Christmas)

These train sets are made from beech and birch wood that has not been grown using insecticides. They are free from toxic chemicals are very strong and sturdy I think these toys would last generations. The basic sets are plain wood some of the engines and additions are coloured.
There are play tables available from brio a table where you can leave the train set up so you can move it and you do not have to clear the floor or the dining table.
These sets encourage fine motor skills in putting the track together but its very simple connection. These sets encourage imaginative play a child can play on his/her own or with a friend. I think many happy hours could be spent playing with these sets.

They are recommended for children from 1 year upwards, personally although a 1 year old can be assisted to link the track and played with, I think they are more suitable for the 2 ½, 3 year old upwards
Thank you for reading I would certainly recommend Brio wooden trains to play with.
Best wishes Mary
