WHAT IS IT?
A battery operated toy train driven by Grandpa Pig. It says phrases and sings songs when you push Grandpa Pig down and there are removable figures of Peppa and George.
The train looks the same as the one in the programme and it is the engine with two carriages. The carriages come apart from the engine all the time and they won't stay together so that is a flaw, the holes in the connectors are too big so the pins fall out and everything separates. The Peppa and George figures are cute but very small so my daughter keeps them with another set because she doesn't play with the carriages any more just the engine part.
WHAT I THINK
I think this toy is a waste of money for £21 because the train won't stay together. I like the sound effects because they are loud and done in Grandpa Pigs proper voice. There is a good steam train noise and even my 5 month old daughter loves to hear that. There are quite a lot of phrases but my daughter likes it when the train sings Grandpa's Little Train because she recognises that from when she watches Peppa Pig on the television.
You can turn it on and off on the bottom of the engine to save batteries but if this is played with a lot it uses a lot of batteries and I think that's because of how loud it is when you use the sound effects. My daughter used to play with it a lot more when she was younger and I used to replace the batteries every 2 weeks.
You push the train along and I like that the wheels are smooth and go round quickly, that would be good for small children and even though the recommended age is 3 you could give this toy to a younger child as long as you took the small figures away first.
WHAT MY DAUGHTER THINKS
My daughter has always liked the engine part of the train so even though the carriages fall off she has never cared and just leaves them in the toy box. She uses the figures with her campervan playset because without the carriages she hasn't got any way to move them both and it's better for them to go in the campervan to save losing them in her toy box. She still likes the sound effects and plays with it with her cars and Brio railway system even though it's a lot bigger and wouldn't fit on the tracks.
3 Dooyoo Stars.
This toy was bought for Hope for Christmas last year and she has only recently started to play with it on a regular basis. It is currently one of the toys which she refuses to put away as she likes to keep going back to it and playing with it constantly. It is very appealing to both girls and boys as it is unisex in it's colour scheme and will appeal to people who like the cartoon Peppa Pig and also who like trains so it is ideal for young children!
Peppa Pig is a much loved cartoon character aimed towards preschool children. Peppa pig and her family enjoy lots of fun in the short episodes which you can catch on Channel 5 most mornings. This television show has proven to be very popular and now you can buy a variety of Peppa Pig products from duvet cover sets, stationery, toys and DVDs. This train is just one of the toy sets that you can buy in the Peppa Pig range and although it is quite a simple design it certainly hits the nail on the head with appeal to young children.
What you get
Within this set you get three sections of train and three characters. Grandad Pig is driving the train and he is 'stuck' in permanently, he doesn't come out so this has caused a little bit of frustration initially as Hope tried to get him out but now she has accepted it it's fine! The other characters you get are a little Peppa and her younger brother George. These both have legs and arms that move so you can position them to sit down on the train. The train carriages are made from plastic and are different colours. The front one is the engine and is the one which houses Grandad pig. It is bright red and has a little lever by Grandad's pig's hand which moved when you press it. The other two carriages are smaller and are yellow and blue. The seats inside the train have little seats for the characters to sit in. They do slot in but they are not completely secure so they do stand a chance of falling out mid train ride! The carriages are connected by little plastic connectors which clip in and out out of each other. These can come apart quite easily, sometimes when Hope picks the train up one of the carriages will just fall off or if she pulls it too fast. The wheels on the bottom of all three train parts move freely.
What it does
This toy can be used as a stand alone toy or along with other toys from the Peppa Pig range. It's main purpose is for children to use their imaginations to create their own fantasy worlds with these toys. Children of pre school age should be encouraged to use their imaginations as it helps them to explore the world around them, learn to be more open minded and aids them with their understanding so this is a great toy for that. The toy can be used as a pull along toy, Hope likes to spend her time pushing this along the floor and puts other random little bits into the carriages to transport them. I have heard that this toy comes with sound but the one we have doesn't have it, I don't know if it is a design problem and we got the wrong one or if it was packaged in the wrong box but that being said even without it having any interactive features which create sound it is certainly entertaining enough and does enough to keep a toddler happy! You don't always need to rely on lights or sounds to entertain a small child! The wheels move freely so this train can be pushed along surfaces with ease, Hope has no problems pushing it along the carpet at all, the only problem comes when she tries to get it to go off the rug and this usually results in a carriage falling off or a pig jumping out!
Will it annoy parents?
This particular toy doesn't make a noise or light up so it isn't likely to annoy you although you can buy a version of this which does come with sound so be aware of which one you purchase! What annoys me, however, is that the wheels do squeak which can be a bit irritating but I have learnt to tune out from it. It is also a bit annoying how the carriages come apart so easily which means that when Hope is playing with this she is often interrupted mid play by a carriage falling off and having to come to me to put it back again. It only takes a second to snap it back in place though so it isn't too much of a problem. I think that all in all this toy is great in terms of it not having an annoying ability to wind up parents!
This toy comes with it's irritations which can wind up toddlers but it actually also teaches them at the same time. Hope used to be very frustrated when the pigs would fall out of the carriages but she has since learnt that if she pushes the train carefully and is gentle that the characters will stay in their seats so it has helped in teaching her about how to be gentle but also about the importance of sitting 'nicely' too. The carriages becoming lose and suddenly not connecting can be frustrating to her but again it has taught her to be careful when pushing the train along as if if she is heavy handed then it's more likely to pull apart. She has also learnt how to put the carriages together herself, this took quite a while but now she is able to do it it shows that her hand-eye co-ordination skills have improved.
When Hope is playing with this she seems really quite happy! She doesn't have any of the other sets that you can buy that this could be doubled up with so this alone is enough to entertain her. She enjoys putting the various characters into the carriages along with other random items that she can find to fit and then transporting them around the house shouting "choo choo!" and "Hold on!" She uses her imagination to enjoy this toy which is very important for her at this age. It is surprised me how much she plays with this actually, I thought she may lose interest but every day it is being played with more and more.
This toy will appeal to boys and girls. Hope had her first ride on a little train a few weeks ago and since then has been more interested in this toy than ever so if your child is interested in trains then this will definitely appeal! I like how it isn't just geared towards girls or boys though so that all of Hope's friends can enjoy playing with it too.
It has a few little negatives such as the squeaky wheels, the fact it looked as though it came with sound and the carriages don't stay together very well but this hasn't stopped Hope from having hours of fun with this toy and I can see it remaining a firm favourite for quite some time yet. If your child likes Peppa Pig and/or trains then this is an ideal toy for them!
Character Options Peppa Pig on Grandpa`s Train
My little one loves anything Peppa Pig, and therefore we have accumulated quite a number of different Peppa Pig toys in house house from various members of the family for various birthdays and Christmas'.
I am unsure of what price this was bought for when my youngster got it about ten months ago, though Amazon has it for £15.00 at the moment. Personally I think £15.00 is a little too high for what it is, though this seems to be the normal with Peppa Pig branded toys.
The train comes in three parts, each of which slot together reasonably easily with little plastic hooks and holes. I say reasonably easy as the hooks do tend to swivel round and so my little one occasionally has a problem fitting them together. The three parts consist of the following;
1. The engine which is mainly red with yellow and blue parts with Grandpa Pig sitting in the seat next to a little lever. I believe that there is another verion of this same train which when Grandpa pig is pushed down, it makes a noise and the train moves forward. This version, however does not do this. Although grandpa Pig does not come out of the engine seat, he does not activate any movement or sound either. I do not know why two versions were made, though do check this aspect when purchasing this item to avoid disappointment. Personally, as my little one knows no difference, she still loves this train. One thing to mention with the engine part is the very flimsy lever which, on our train, has actually broke off already!
2. Blue carriage which seats four child Peppa Pig characters. There are two seats which enable this and none are big enough for the adult characters to sit in.
3. Yellow carriage which is the same as the above carriage.
If memory serves me, this train also came with two characters - Peppa Pig herself and George Pig. These were characters without bases (some later characters such as the ones which come with Grandpa Pigs boat have stands/bases attached).
The train pushes extremely well across most floors, even thicker carpets, and appeals to children from as young as one to perhaps six or seven. My little one has had this for ten months approximately and still loves playing with this.
Well recommended toy!
My son got this as a Christmas present from a family member and he loves it as he always watches peppa pig on the tv. The train seems to cost around £12.99 - £18 depending where it is bought so if you are considering buying this toy I would recommend you shop around so that you are not paying £18 when you can get it a lot cheaper!
The train comes with the three parts which can all be separated and a peppa and george figure which can also be removed from the train to be played with. The front part of the train is red and where grandpa pig sits to drive it and when he is pushed down its sings a well known peppa pig song and also says several different phrases. The next two sections of the train are where george and peppa pig sit, one is blue and the other is yellow and they both have wheels on the bottom so that the train can easily be pushed along without scratching any surfaces.
The train requires 3xAAA batteries which are included and is recommended for children 3 years and up but my son was 2 when he got it and was fully able to play with it and activate the sounds. The train is very sturdy and colourful so very eye catching for young kids. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has children who love peppa pig or trains as it is a great toy.
My little boy is Pepa pig mad and although i vowed never to buy another peppa pig toy after the not so good quality of the spaceship he was brought a number of peppa pig items from family members.I am however pleased to say this train is very well built and although we are only a week in to its use my son has been very boysterouis and its still standing.
As with a few of peppa pigs products there are variations to this train available the one i am reviewing is the push along train plastic train with sounds. The train comes with peppa, George and grand dad pig figurines and requires 3 AAA bateries. It is recomended for 3 years +.
The front carrige of the train is deep red and this is where grandad pig sits.He is non removable and by pushing his head down cues the 6 phrases that this train bosts. There are a number of phrase from peppa and a song that goes the piggies on the train go..... (this being my daughters favourite to have a dance to ). As with other peppa pig toys my children have the sound is very loud and there is no option to turn the volume down.
Also with the front carrige come another 2 removable carriges 1 blue 1 yellow. All 3 carriges can be coupled together very easily which is a very good point for me as with so many toys i find myself having to put them back together for my children every 5 minutes. In these carriges are indents for peppa pig and george to sit although i fond they dont hold them very well but this is not a problem as the figures can sit in the carrige anyway. The one problem i can find is that the adult figures that my son recieved with other pepa pig toys do not fit in the carriges.
This was brought by my sister in law but she paid around £8 in the argos sale for it but i think they usually retail at around £15. I would definetly recomend this toy as it is the best quality pepa pig toy i have found and im sure it will have a long life in my household and will be loved by any peppa pig or train fan. The one warning i will give is look at which train it is before you purchase as there are wooden variations, ones with and without sounds and push along and push and go ones.
My son is going to be 3 fairly soon and he absolutely loves the kids cartoon Peppa Pig. He also enjoys his cars immensely and anything that moves to be honest with you. We found this train for about £15 on Amazon a few months back and he really loves it.
The product you get is that of a plastic train that is very bright in colours so your child will be interested in playing with it. Also there is the the front part where the driver sits and two carriages behind that where the passengers sit. You also get three characters with this train in the form of Grandpa Pig, Peppa and George. Grandpa Pig's character is fixed in the train so you can't remove him, but the other two in Peppa and George are removable and can be played with.
The train itself is a mix of red, yellow and blue and I was impressed by how well it looked to be made and how sturdy it was as well. You can take each section apart and my son takes them off and puts them back together and awful lot in a day.
There is also a bit more to this train than initially meets the eye. Once you put the three AAA batteries in and turn it on you can press down Grandpa Pig's head to hear a few phrases that he says.
This has already been a popular toy for my son already and is standing the test of time as he throws round the carriages and puts them to the test, but they are very robust so that's good. I am very pleased with this train as I think at around £15 it's pretty good value and is great for kids to learn and keep them occupied for a while.
My 2 Peppa obsessed children were given this toy as a gift about 18 months ago.
Grandpa Pig is one of the characters that you will meet when watching the Nick Junior tv show Peppa Pig.
Grandpa pig is a bit of a train buff and in several of the episodes we seem him driving his little train - much to Peppa and her little brother George's delight.
This toy comes with 2 removable characters - Peppa and George. Grandpa Pig is attached to the train engine and cannot be removed.
The train comes in 3 parts. In total it is 12 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 5 inches high (including the height of Grandpa Pig).
The toy is made of plastic and is surprisingly sturdy. Ours has been dropped, thrown and careered into walls on many occassions and survived unblemished.
Each of the sections is linked by a small clip which can be easily unhooked. It is however, slightly more tricky to put them back together and I am forever being approached my one of my children to help them reconnect the train.
The Engine is a deep red colour with yellow trim. Grandpa Pig is dressed in blue with a matching blue hat. The wheels on all 3 parts of the train turn, so it can be rolled across wooden/laminate floors quite well.
There are 2 carriages. One is yellow and one is blue. Each carriage has a dividing panel down the middle, allowing you to sit 2 characters in the front and 2 in the back if you want. The front seats have little moulded areas to help the characters to sit in them without falling over.
My train has a sticker underneath that says "This is a non-electronic item" and a battery compartment with no metal connections in it!
I think that this is because it was an early version of the toy. As far as I know, the more recent models do take batteries and play the Peppa Pig theme when you press down on Grandpa Pig's head.
I can't say that having no sounds had effected the play value of this toy for me. My children love it and have lots of fun piling all their Peppa Pig characters in the train for a ride.
I have seen this toy priced as low as £6.99 in B&M Bargains, which I think is a great price as Peppa toys are often so expensive. Whatever price you pay for it though, Peppa fans are sure to love it.
My kids both love Peppa Pig and my son loves cars, trains, planes all that kind of stuff that he can push along the floor so when I saw this I thought it would be perfect!
It was in the toy sale at ASDA for £7 rather then £15+ online so I thought I couldnt miss the bargain.
Got it home, finally got it out its packaging and then realised it needed batteries. But my son wanted it anway so off he went and lets say he was a very quiet (besides the random "choo choo" shouts)little boy for a good hour if not more.
Grandpa Pig is fixed into the train which frustrated him at first as he kept trying tp pull him out but now hes realised it doesnt bother him. We also got Peppa dressed as a Princess but no george.
The carriages arent permently fixed together they are clipped together but they are well connected, its very rare I am asked to fit them back together.
When we finally got batteries it added a whole new element to the toy as it comes with a few sounds/sayings. You get Grandpa saying things like "all aboard" the trains whistle and also peppa and friends singing the train song like they do in the episode. To get the sounds on you push down on Grandpa and you cant get the next sound on until one has ended so there is no constant pushing on him and getting a wish wash of noise!
Overall I love this product as this gets played with everyday you can fit in 8 characters-some dont fit in-the sounds are good and its well made. It is definetly worth £7!
My son like most pre school children is a huge fan of Peppa pig and like most boys is a fan of trains. So for Christmas I bought him a grandpa pig train from wilko's for £8.99 which compared to other stores was a real bargain.
Grandpa pigs train is a replica of one of my favourite episodes that we have on sky+ and therefore watch on a regular basis. The train is called Gertrude and was built by grandpa pig in his shed and has proper wheels so doesn't need a train track.
The train itself is red and has two carriages that attach to each other one blue and the other yellow. In the train Grandpa Pig is sat on the front and attached to the train it comes with a Peppa and George small figures to sit in the back and there are little indents in the seats to hold George and Peppa which means they can go in either carriage. This toy has no friction motion.
My son has played with a friends version of this train but it has no sound but is identical even having the battery compartment but no wires or connections. These trains came in identical boxes so be aware. It is advertised on Amazon currently for £18.99 but doesn't actually state whether it is with voice or without so buy with caution. The battery compartment is sealed with a screw and takes 3 AAA batteries which are not included.
The train itself although doesn't have any friction is does move freely across the floor although the wheels do tend to squeak which can be a little irritating. Sound is activated by pressing Grandpa Pig down and has several phrases from Grandpa Pig, Peppa and also plays the son that they sing on the related program.
The carriages are attached by a hook and clip which is actually quite secure so is one of the few Peppa pig toys that I don't have to constantly put back together again. It is however to difficult for my son to put together so is a mommy job although he can pull them apart.
The figures while that can sit anywhere don't seem to fit securely into the moulded spaces so often fall over when my son is playing with them.
This was one of my son's Christmas presents and one that he has regularly played with everyday since. He will follow me from room to room with it and actually is happy to play with the train on his own which often he will want to include me in his games.
I think that this is an ideal toy for a young Peppa pig fan .It is certainly one of the better quality Peppa pig toys I have seen and has given my son hours of fun already. This is a great toy for stimulating a little one's imagination.
The age range guideline recommend that this toy is for children for three and over and I think this is mostly down to the fact that Peppa and particularly George as so small that they could be a chocking hazard and so while smaller children would enjoy this change I would recommend that it only be supervised play.
I can say that in my experience of Peppa pig toys this is the first one I think I got value for money for.
As a huge fan of Peppa Pig my daughter (coming up for three years old) is an avid collector of all things Peppa Pig! We bought this a little while ago now and it has become a firm favourite of my daughters plus any little friends which visit! When you press down on Grandpa pig he says various phrases including 'hop aboard' which my daughter regularly shouts at the top of her voice! Also grandpa pig sings a song 'the piggies on the train go......' cue much dancing and singing by my little one. We still have the original batteries in so despite being played with rather a lot it's not heavy on the batteries. This comes with 1 Peppa and 1 George figure which sit very nicely in the cars. We regularly have the whole Peppa pig cast on board though!
I would highly recommend this - a great toy.
Peppa Pig Train
Grandpa Pig and the Forgotten Choo
Peppa Pig is a children's animated television programme which my daughter has recently fallen in love with. Each episode is only five minutes long so keeps her attention really well, possibly one of the reasons that she loves it so much. The episodes follow a young pig called Peppa and her family and friends, each of which are different types of lovable animals. Episodes feature every day activities such as school and going to the park with some really funny moments that even I have to laugh at.
When my daughter's birthday came, she got many Peppa Pig items from myself and family as everyone knew of her obsession with this little pig. One of these included a Peppa Pig push and go train driven by Grandpa Pig.
PEPPA PIGS Train
As with Peppa Pig's car, the train comes in a couple of different versions which is not properly advertised so it is easy to buy one thinking it is the other and have a disappointed child. The two versions are exactly the same in appearance though one comes with sounds and the ability to push grandpa down in the train and watch it speed off on its own where as the other has neither even though it appears to be built as though it should with sound holes and Grandpa Pig being able to be pushed down. There is even a battery compartment which states on it that it is not an electronic toy and batteries are not required which leads me to believe that these were all originally made to have the sound and movement and then something stopped this in this particular version.
This review is on the soundless train.
This train can be brought either on its own or in a Peppa Pig multi pack which comes with the push and go (soundless) car, sea-saw set and some Peppa Pig figures. Check carefully when purchasing though in case you are after the one with sounds as the advertising is not clear on the packaging which version it is.
The train is the same appearance as seen on the Peppa Pig series of programmes so easily recognisable to young children. It comes in three detachable parts which all fit together in an easy enough way though is quite difficult and fiddly for young hands - my daughter can take the parts apart though can not put them back together again which brings on frustration. The front main part of the train is bright red and yellow and has Grandpa Pig sitting in the driving seat. Grandpa Pig, as mentioned above, moves up and down a little though in this version does nothing more. He is unable to be removed from the train. There is a very thin gear stick on one side of Grandpa Pig which is very flimsy and I can easily see this being broken soon enough. This is really the only part on the train which is not very durable, even the smaller wheels on the other carriages are secure on the train. There are two carriages to the train, one bright yellow and the other bright blue - these can be fixed on the main carriage in any order and if so wanting, can also be fixed onto the front of the main train part. Inside these two carriages is two small sections where you are able to place the smaller Peppa Pig figures of Peppa herself and friends. You are only really able to fit two properly in each carriage and unfortunately the adult figures can not fit into these carriages as there is no room for them. It also requires young hands to learn to wiggle the figures around to get them to fit - which all figures from the Peppa Pig range come with movable arms and legs so children have to be careful not to push too hard otherwise they may break the figures, though this my daughter soon mastered so not a big problem.
The train overall is very sturdy with the one part mentioned above that could cause problems though really that's it. The train also moves absolutely fine when pushed over most surfaces from floor to long strand carpets which is great. The covering paintwork is also quite durable and has no scuffs as of yet, though my daughter has only had this train for a couple of weeks - the main problem is cleaning it with the small areas in the compartments and under Grandpa Pig though really that's a small negative.
Overall the look, durability, texture, safety value and ease of play with this train is well above average. It is a shame that not all the models have sound and push and go on its own feature as this would have enhanced fun for the train.
My daughter really loves this train, and my young nephew even more so as he is train mad - it was this train that got my nephew into Peppa Pig! The only realy fraustration that my daughter gets with this toy is the difficulty she finds putting the compartments together with the engine part - it is easy for her to take apart, though fiddly to put back together though it takes me two seconds to do it for her so no time at all for any tempers to erupt thankfully!
I also really like this train as I feel that it is a great value toy for my daughter to mix with not only her other Peppa Pig figures and toys, but also her Happyland people (although these are a little big for the compartments - my daughter still has a good go at it!). I don't have any worries about small parts as there is none except if that gear stick does eventually break off which I do keep an eye on, and it gives me some peace when she is playing with it (except hearing my daughter go 'choo choo' herself which really I guess it doesn't matter that there is no sound as she supplies her own!).
This train can be found from between £10 and £20 - the higher price matching the one with the sounds more so unlike the car, the soundless one is cheaper which is good.
This train also comes part of the big Peppa Pig set with car and roundabout set though no matter how hard I have tried, I can not find the price for this. As it was a gift from my daughters nanny I will have to subtly try to ask her the price and will update this review when I find out.
I think that this train is a really fun toy for a young Peppa Pig lover and my daughter thoroughly enjoys playing with it. There are no small parts and overall durability is high. It is brightly coloured and matches the train on the series of programmes so is well recognised by children which enhances the fun.
Just be careful when purchasing this train in any capacity to make sure that you know whether you are buying the sound and moving one or the one without like this one to avoid any disappointment. Of course, parents may prefer to opt for the silent one!!
Would I recommend this? Most certainly - it is a brilliant toy and my daughter is sure to agree!
Some other toys in this Peppa Pig Series include:
Peppa Pig Car
Many Figures sets
Playground sets which include seasaw, slide and swings
There is also a newer train version - The Royal Train which is all in red.
I purchased this toy second hand off ebay for the sum of £4. I felt this to be quite reasonable as they are usually around £12.99 in the shops and the item did look as new. She had seen an episode where Peppa Pig, George and there friends travel around in Grandpa's train and therefore when I spotted this I simply had to buy it for her as I knew she would love it.
The toy itself consists of the train which Grandpa Pig is driving and two carriages for Peppa Pig and her brother George. Grandpa Pig can be pressed down to get some train noises and sounds. The carriages and train connect well and do not fall apart easily like some other connectable train toys do.
The product itself is bright and colourful and this makes the toy quite eye catching and appealing. If you have other characters from Peppa Pig too then there is also room to sit these in the carriages along with Peppa and George.
The train is easy to push and pull along on both carpet and laminate flooring and both my children love playing with this toy together. I would recommend this toy but would shop around for the best price.
My daughter is coming up two years old and has just discovered the wonderful world that is Peppa Pig. She is also just starting to get interested in playing with her Lego cars pushing them across the floor.
We decided that the Granddad pig car would be a good edition to her toy collection because of these things and set about researching the cheapest place we would be able to get it.
After a bit of looking around we found that the average price was £12 for the train. For this price you would get a brightly coloured plastic train with two carriages and three characters.
Granddad pig is fixed in the train which is a bit of a shame as it would have been good to be able to play with him as well as the removable Peppa and George character.
When I first opened the box containing the train, I was impressed with the bright colours the train was in. A mixture of red, yellow and blue attracts young eyes as well as old ones like mine, and fit well with the colours of Peppa's characters included with the toy.
The train itself comes in three parts, with the carriages connecting to each other and the train by a plastic link. I was impressed with the sturdiness of the links, and they showed instant signs of not breaking at the first frustrated tantrum.
Once connected, and placed your three AAA batteries in the correct place you can press down on Granddad's head to hear six different phrases and sounds.
As I mentioned Granddad is fixed into the train but Peppa and George can be removed and played with which is a good idea for imaginative little minds.
I really believe after playing with this for a little while that the toy could have proved much better if the sound mechanism was placed under the train's chimney and Granddad pig could then have been removable from the toy.
I did think it was a shame that the train doesn't move along side the noises it makes, but it's not the end of the world as the wheels are fairly robust and make moving along different surfaces quite easy.
The thing I noticed my daughter was getting frustrated with very soon after getting the train was that the back carriage has a tendency to fall over sideways when she gets a bit carried away and pushes along quite fast.
I chuckle to myself when this happens but bless her she doesn't find it so funny.
After playing with the toy for quite a few weeks, I can see it's going to be a favourite. It's sturdy overall and has come out against being tripped over and kicked slightly many times. There are no chip marks on the plastic from toddler misuse as yet, and this is a plus for me as so many toys on the market scratch and break so easily.
Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this toy for the price I paid. I can see it being a favourite in the toy box for a few years to come yet, and coupled with the fact it's a vehicle and can mix with other toys in the toy box is a great plus for me.
My daughter recieved this as a present last christmas from her dad and she plays such a lot with it, and also includes her other peppa pig accessories in her role play.
The train comes in 3 parts which can detatch from each other, and is called Gertrude, she has played a part in one of peppa pig's programmes where she helps pull out miss rabbits school bus which has got stuck in the mud.
The front of the train is mainly red in colour with a yellow stripe through it, and also has grandpa pig sitting inside "driving".
The second part of the train is yellow, and the third part is blue, but as said before you can detatch them and swap them around.
If you press grandpa pigs head down he has various sayings,
"all aboard", "Full steam ahead" and the third one is in peppa's voice which is "Gertrude is the very best train in the whole world".
Although it does state it plays a well known tune, my daughter's does not.
The contents also include peppa pig and george pig, which are both quite small in size.
The down side for my daughter is that you cannot remove grandpa pig and play with him.
The train is very strong, although the carraiges do come apart too easily quite a lot, my daughter is forever coming to me to put them back together.
As a package its a great little toy with a popular childrens character and priced at £9.99 its a bargain to boot.
My son is Peppa Pig mad so of course when he spotted this train set in Tesco`s a few weeks ago we just had to get it for him.
This train is a push along train for children aged 3+ , it says on the box it is because of small parts which I think they are talking about Peppa and George who are quite small.
The train is called Gertrude which is a colourful red it has a blue funnel and comes with Grandpa pig who is attached to the train and cannot be moved , there are also two removable carriages one is blue the other is yellow they have little seats for George and Peppa to sit on they also come with the train.
The train is well made , sturdy and can cope with being thrown across the room a few times!
If you push down Grandpa`s head you will hear " All aboard" , "Full steam ahead","Gertrude is a very best train in the whole world", there is also a chuff chuff noise and a whistle.
You will need 3 x AAA batteries though it does come with some and my son`s train has still got these batteries even after constant use for the last 12 weeks.
The only down side to Gertrude is it is only a push along toy but my son doesn`t seem to mind he has fun pushing it across the living room floor.
I have noticed on a couple of websites like toys r us that it states in the description that the train plays a well known childrens tune, my son`s train does not play a tune so I don`t know if we have an older model or if the toys r us have got their description wrong.
You can buy this train from supermarkets or toys r us for £9.99
This is also on ciao same username
