Advantages: looks different with his rocket boosters and his set back eyes.

Disadvantages: paint has chipped a bit on the edges

My children have owned quite a large collection of Chuggington trains for the last couple of years. The range is based upon the childrens TV show, Chuggington, and there is a large range of characters who feature in the show. The set of diecast engines made by Learning Curve are really high quality. They are well made so bits don't fall off, and they are painted to look just like the characters in the show.

Action Chugger is a film star who is a bit of a superhero, and the young trainee chuggers are very much in awe of him and want to be just like him. This chugger is a regular engine shape, but he has the unusual feature of two side flaps that lift to reveal rockets, so he can go really fast and fly. These flaps are on hinges, and they are incredibly well made.

The train has the same size plastic base as the other trains in the range, and 8 wheels that freely turn. There is a coupling system in place so that this train can join onto any other train in the range, and my children seem to be rather amused by making the trains into a big circle and pushing them round like that, or making them follow a track in a long line.

The colours on this onereally seem to complement each other well, with shades of orange, yellow, brown and silver highlighting the features of this train. One feature that really does make this one stand out is that his eyes are set back behind glass, a bit like you would see on a superhero wearing a mask, or maybe a bit more like a racing driver behind his helmet, so it just makes him seem a bit different from the other engines in the town.

Unfortunately with two years of playing, the paintwork has chipped a little round the edge of the hinged panels, and on the top at the back where it has bumped into other toys and skirting boards. This doesn't detract much from the look for me.

The chuggington range can start to become a bit pricey when you are buying all of the engines. This one is average price at £5. There are some higher priced trains in the set. I feel £5 is ok for this engine if your child is a fan of the show as they will know who he is and get the most out of playing with this range.

Summary: Another lovely looking train from the Chuggington range.
