A cute and friendly looking train

Its hard to believe that a simple concept such as the one involving Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, living and working on the fictional island of Sodar could bring so much happiness to so many children. The little characters have been so well thought out and have so much charm, that you cannot fail to like them. One of the main characters who lives on the island is Percy. Percy has been immortalized by Ertl who have made a really nice little model of Percy for children everywhere to collect and enjoy owning. Percy has a lovely nature and his open and kind little face seems to me to reflect this. ********************************************************** We bought our little Percy engine some time ago and he was priced at £3.25 at the time, which we felt was good value for him. He is still available to buy online and in some collectables shops and you should budget around £5 to £7 for him. Percy is made out of a die cast metal and plastic mix. His main engine body is made from metal and is well detailed and authentic looking. You can instantly tell who he is meant to be. He has a light green paint effect to finish him off and his number 6 is displayed in yellow with red out lining. Percy has red plastic bumpers and this is a really good idea, as it stops him bumping and knocking other engines and trucks when he is steaming around doing his job of being a really useful engine. These plastic bumpers can also protect little hands from any sharp ends and points which to me seems a good idea. ********************************************************** Percy looks every inch the helpful little train that he is on the tv series and films that children watch and love. He has a nicely modelled face which is made out of a light grey plastic. His features look clear and friendly. His little wheels are also plastic and turn easily. He is neither too heavy or too light and so can easily be pushed or pulled along during play. I feel that there is a nice variation to Percy because he is such a good little engine and his kind nature can be used to great effect during roll play. Some of the other engines in the range are portrayed as troublesome, arrogant, aloof etc. However Percy is the opposite and as such children can learn tolerance and kindness, through playing with him and interacting with the other engines in the way that the character of Percy does in the tv programmes. ********************************************************** Percy the die-cast metal toy train is a lovely addition to a childs miniature Thomas the Tank Engine collection. He is easy to take care of and fun to own and play with. Our little Percy engine has been a sturdy and reliable toy and has spent many happy hours rolling along the play mats and tracks that we have without becoming chipped or knocked. He is made from good quality materials and modelled well, so he gets a full 5 star rating. NB: Due to small parts and his die-cast metal make up, Percy is not suitable for younger children under the age of 4 years old.
