      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A good addition for stations large and small!

A centrepiece of 'Hornby's' Skaledale range, this signal box is one of the best products that I've bought to add to my son's (or is that my?!?!) model railway.
As with most of the Hornby products that I've bought, the signal box is extremely well made and includes some very nice details that add much to the simplest of layouts. I think the theme of Skaledale follows models drawn from Goathland Station (think Heartbeat) on the North Yorkshire railway. This adds a nice atmosphere to both historical and contemporary layouts.
As is typical with Hornby products, better detail and accuracy can be obtained from rivals such as Bachmann, Farish and Dupol. That said, the price of this signal box is reasonable in the context of other suppliers, if not in absolute terms. Eleven pounds on Amazon is expensive in anyone's money. Collectors may want to try their local model railway shop: I find that they typically offer discounts to secure your (probable) future custom. They also provide good, impartial advice.
