From my other reviews you will see my son is a major Thomas fan his whole bedroom is Thomas and friends and his favourite toys are Thomas and friends. Any way you get the point he loves Thomas so while we were shopping in elc for track master vehicles we came across the wooden variety and decided we would buy Toby his second favourite engine to see how it faired.
Although not compatible with the track master railway which is the one that my son owns we decided to buy him one for playing on his wooden tesco track where Toby does work well. He is completely wooden apart from the plastic skirt at the bottom of the engine and it is such high quality. It is smooth and has lovely paint work such high detail and looks exactly how the character Toby does on the program. You can definitely see that this is a more expensive range of engines from the quality of them.
The wheel are lovely and work well no sticking where the engines couple up there are magnets so you can link up the carriages together. Although we only purchased Toby and no carriages we have found they link up well with the tesco wooden trains that we originally brought for his wooden set. My son loves to link them all together and can play for hours with Toby keeping his Imagination working well.
My only downfall with any of these wooden engines is the price at £9.99 a pop they are not cheap although they are worth the value to buy a few of them has cost me a fortune but to be honest it is the same with the whole of the Thomas range paying for the name I suppose.
I would recommend these wooden trains to anyone Toby is made extremely well and as yet 2 years down the line only has a tiny scratch to his paint work and this is with my son playing roughly with him for many many hours. I brought mine for £9.99 at the early learning centre there are many many different characters to choose from and they are just lovely.
Toby the Tram Engine is an engine that is always happy to work. He's not above being tempermental sometimes.
