Digivice (Bandai Digimon)
Member Name: romding
Advantages: Easy to use and stays popular Disadvantages: Battery life
If you're not aware of Digimon (your kids probably are) then it's best summed up as a somewhat darker version of Pokemon. One of ths key gadgets is a Digivice, and this toy is designed to look like one. Basically it's another form of cyber pet, although thankfully it does not need looking after. You choose to play as one character and then walk this character (by shaking the Digivice) across the landscape fighting various enemies. The graphics and the gameplay are very basic and the shaking creates a rattling noise that can be distracting. However, the toy has kept my eight year old quiet for long periods of time. He found it easy to use and seems very happy with it. It has certainly given far more entertainment value than a cyber pet, and mums and dads do not get lumbered with it either. The batteries gave out after about one and a half months of fairly heavy usage. Not bad I suppose, but I expected them to last longer. All in all, a surprise hit, though probably only for fans of the show. Summary: |
