      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Good overall.

This was bought for my son by in grandparent for his first birthday and he absolutely loves it. He in to his Ceebies but for a long time bob the builder was his favorite. He started with watching it dance before moving on to copying the dance and finally singing a few words with it.

The toy its self is soft in nature with the rigid body cover nicely so no hard parts are uncover. It measure about 30cm and sings Bobs the builder "Big fish, Little fish" Song. It takes three AA batteries which will give a good few hours of usage but when the run out it does sound like bob has had to much to drink. The dance is all one movement as he wiggles down and up at the same time as side to side with a little hand shuffle with it.

But after continual use of nearly a year bob has begun to slow down even with new batteries and the moving parts grind quiet loudly now as well. (If he was human i'd suggest cod liver oil tablets). But apart from this its as good as the day my son got it. The sound is very clear and loud still and its till played with.

As a side note, i cant understand why its says 3 years plus. There is no small parts, the toy is soft in the most part and the battery part is well secured behind padding and Velcro.

        A must for any Bobaholic!!

I bought Dancing Bob the Builder for my best friends little boy for his second birthday last September, and my little man fell in love with him so his Nanny bought him one for Christmas.

He is called Dancing Bob because when you press his hand he dances along to Big Fish Little Fish, swinging his arms and wiggling his hips. Bob is approximately 13 inches high, and has a soft head, with squeezable arms and legs and a hard body. However you can feel the controlling wires through the soft fabric of the limbs. He is decked out in his trade mark overalls, with a soft hammer in one hand, and soft screwdriver and wrench in his belt.

Although my little man loved this when I bought it for his friend, typically he hated it at first when he got it for Christmas, which upset his Nan after I assured her this was what he wanted. However after a few days he loved to knock Bob over and laughed his head off as he flailed on the floor to the music! By New Year he was dancing along with him! It is very amusing to watch the two of them together.

Although this is a really great toy, there are a few things that disappointed me. Firstly, it only plays Big Fish Little Fish, and then only about half of the song. It would have been a lot better if it played the whole song, or a couple of songs. I think that would definitely improve the lifespan of the toy, and stop it driving us parents loopy when it has been set off for the tenth time on the trot!! As Bob has managed to release two albums and two number one hits you would think they could put a few more songs on. The other thing is the battery life is pretty poor. Our Bob is not played with constantly, but I have already changed the batteries twice, and in two months I think that is quite poor. My only other minor niggle is that his head and hands are starting to look quite grubby and for obvious reasons can't go in the washing machine, so we have to make do with a bit of vanish and some elbow grease!!

This toy is recommended from 3 years of age, which I think is a bit of an old age for it. There are no small parts, and my little man has had his from 16 months with no disastrous consequences!! He is able to turn it on himself whenever he wants to play with it, so from 18 months might be a better age range.

If your little on loves Bob the Builder then this toy is a real winner, but otherwise I think it has quite a limited shelf life due to its lack of variety. Dancing Bob is available from Argos for £19.89
