Advantages: Good value for money, Long lasting batteries, Powerful, Reliable, Nice design
Disadvantages: None
My 5 year old absolutely loves anything to do with Disney Princesses. I picked up a Disney Princess LED torch for her about a year ago.
I bought the torch from Morrisons and it cost just £1.00! The torch was hanging from a plastic strip along one of the aisles (rather than having its own shelf). It came packaged on cardboard with plastic over the top. The torch is widely available and can be found at many different retailers including Amazon, Play.com, Toys R Us and most supermarkets. It generally costs a reasonable between £1.00 - £3.00.
The torch requires 2 x AAA batteries which aren't included. The battery compartment is situated on the bottom of the torch and can only be reached with a small screwdriver, so it's safe for little ones. My daughter has been using her torch regularly for about a year and we haven't yet had to change the batteries, so the battery life is very good (the torch is described as 'energy efficient').
The torch looks very pretty and is sure to please all Disney Princess fans. It's a light pink colour and features 2 Disney Princesses - Belle and Sleeping Beauty (who wear their trademark yellow and pink ballgowns). The word 'Disney' is embossed around the top of the torch and 'Princess Perfect' is printed down the side of the torch. My daughter loves her torch and chooses to keep it on her bedside table.
The dimensions of the torch are 7cm around the bottom of the torch (the handle) and up to 10cm around the top of the torch. The length of the torch is 13cm. It's the perfect size for little hands and my daughter can easily handle the torch. There is a pink switch near the top of the torch which switches the torch on and off, this is also easy for little fingers to operate. Everything on the torch is rounded and there are no sharp edges.
The torch doesn't seem very powerful when switched on in daylight. However when used in darkness the torch is surprisingly powerful and illuminates well. The LED aspect of the torch means that it isn't quite as strong as a regular torch if a child decides to stare directly in to the torch! My daughter regularly uses her torch for (sneakily) reading books/playing with toys in bed after I've switched her light off. She also uses it underneath her covers in bed, like being in a tent! The biggest use is for when she needs to get up in the night to go to the toilet (or get in my bed!) - the torch allows her to get there safety and gives her the confidence she needs. It can also be used outdoors when it's dark and is useful for powercuts!
Overall this is a handy, reliable, battery friendly, pretty, cheap and powerful torch which I highly recommend.
