Fisher Price Peek-a-Blocks Tumbling Giraffe
Jack seems to now have more toys than a toyshop and this is one of his favourite ones out of his Christmas presents from this year. The Tumbling Giraffe is one of many toys from the Peek-a-Blocks fisher price range. The toy costs around £15 in most places and comprises of a plastic yellow giraffe that stands around 30 to 40cm in height and is hollow thus allowing blocks to be posted down the middle. When you buy the giraffe you get five different Peek-a-Blocks along with it.
Peek-a-blocks are basically clear plastic square bricks that all have different things inside to grab little ones attention. Some have moveable things inside and some have things that shake or make a noise. They are all different and each as interesting as the last. The ones that came with this toy are all along a zoo theme and one has a monkey inside another has a zebra (which can spin around) and various other animals that could be found at the zoo.
You are able to buy the Peek-a-Blocks separately so that you have more to play with and as there are so many toys in the Peek-a-Block range it is well worth doing. For Christmas jack got a few other toys in this range so I am finding these little blocks everywhere!
The giraffe itself is pretty basic but Jack seems to be really enjoying playing with it. When a block is posted down inside the giraffe it will hit a hidden button inside that sets of a little tune and encourages his to keep posting blocks inside. It plays two different tunes that last for about 15 seconds each. You can reach inside the giraffe and press this button to set the music off but as yet Jack has not discovered that you can do this.
You are able to close off the exit for the blocks so that they are stored neatly inside the giraffe for when you are not playing or if you wanted to stack them away inside and the quickly release the bottom door the blocks will all pile out in quick succession. There is also a section by the giraffe's bum that allows the blocks to be stacked outside of the giraffe and Jack loves it if I build a high tower so he can bash them all down again.
Another basic but handy feature is the fact there is a handle on top of the giraffes head. This is handy for when I am tidying up and I have filled the giraffe up with blocks and putting it away. I am sure when Jack gets a bit older this will be good for him to easily carry his toy around with him.
The giraffe is for 6 months and older but of course this sort of toy is safe for all ages as there are no really complex parts and everything is lovely and chunky. The toy came with batteries and these are the small watch type ones that I hope will last for a long time.
Jack really does enjoy this toy and all the different types of Peek-a-Blocks that come with it. I really do think it is a great toy for the price. Because it is made of plastic it is easy to clean and very hard wearing. The blocks can be used with different toys from this range so this makes it even more enjoyable and worth every penny.
I would strongly recommend this toy for any parent. 10/10
Summary: a great toy all round
